He looked at Simon with obvious disgust on his face. “No, the fuck you don’t. Don’t you touch me. I don’t want your gay hands on me.”

Coach Reed got in his face as Cantrell held him back. “Get the fuck out of my training center. And call your agent. You’re no longer on this team.”

He laughed manically again. “You don’t have the authority to boot me out of here, old man. I make more money than you do, and you aren’t kicking me out!”

Coach Reed didn’t have to say anything more, because Greer Rowan walked in flanked by two guys I knew. Daredevil and Dreamboat, former Navy SEALs from Jesse Evans’ security team.

“You will get the fuck out of my locker room. As of this minute, you are no longer a member of this team. And when word gets around to the other teams what kind of man you are, you might not see another contract in this league.”

Clay’s anger began to subside. “You can’t do that! That’s defamation. I’ll sue you. And you still have to pay my contract.”

Greer folded his arms over his chest. “You’ve violated the terms of your contract, Turner. You might want to call your agent, because you obviously don’t know what’s in it.”

He turned to Daredevil and Dreamboat. “Please escort Mr. Turner out.”

“Happy to help,” Dreamboat said. “You gonna walk, Turner, or are we carrying you out of here?”

Clay sneered at Dreamboat as Cantrell let him go. “I can walk, fucker.”

Dreamboat laughed at him in his face. “You don’t know who you’re messing with, man.”

Dreamboat and Daredevil crowded him back toward the door until he turned and walked on his own.

“You’ll regret this, Rowan! You just wait!”

Greer turned and looked at me. “Patrick. My office.”

Locke patted me on the chest before releasing me, and I followed Greer Rowan up to his office. He didn’t say a word the entire way until we reached it. Closing the door, he turned to me.

“Have a seat and tell me what happened down there, Patrick?”

I ran my hands over my head and closed my eyes for a moment. The adrenaline had ebbed away, and I was exhausted.

“Turner just would not stop. I know that’s not the way to handle it, but he’s been grating on me for almost a year. Snide remarks about Cole and questioning my sexuality. It’s none of his goddamn business, Greer!”

He reached out and put a hand on my shoulder. The heat felt like a brand on my skin. “I’m sorry, Patrick. I know that’s not your typical behavior. If we’d known this was how he was, I’d never have signed him.”

I leaned forward, my elbows on my knees, and hung my head.

“Is this why you’ve lost so much weight? Because of him?”

I shook my head no. How was I going to say I was upset about my boyfriend? I wasn’t.

“Just not feeling well, sir.”

Greer released a heavy breath. “Who is your agent, Patrick?”

I looked up at him, now fearful for my job. “Aidan Hayes.”

He got up and walked to his desk, leaving me to watch as he picked up his office phone and pressed a button. Before I knew it, he had Aidan on the phone and told him what happened.

“I’m going to have to fine Mr. Griffin, Aidan.”

“How much are we talking?” Aidan didn’t sound concerned. He knew money wasn’t an issue.

“Five thousand dollars, payable to Portland Equine Therapy. I’ll make sure the league is notified that the fine has been paid.”

Aidan chuckled. “I’m sure Cooper and Callum will be very appreciative. And Patrick,” he called out to me, “I’ll get the donation sorted with your accountant.”
