“You taste so sweet, baby,” he whispers, his voice low and sultry. “I can’t wait to fuck you properly.”

His erection is visible through his trousers as he pulls me close.

Our lips meet in a passionate kiss, our tongues dancing with each other as we explore the depths of each other’s mouths. It’s a slow, lingering kiss, filled with desire and longing, as he continues to explore my body with his hands.

“Take off your dress,” he urges, breaking the kiss.

There’s no way I’m having sex with him—for the first time—on a rooftop in the city. My knees shake like jelly. “I’m not sure I can do that up here?—”

I startle at the sound of the rooftop door opening. We break away from one another, him adjusting his pants. A staff member hovers by the door in a professional pose. He clears his throat. “Sir?”

“Yes?”

“Sorry to interrupt, Mr. Bachman, but there’s a call for you at the front desk. Would you like me to see the lady back to the room for you?”

“No.” He stands from his seat, and I follow suit. He shoots me a protective glance. “I’ll take her to the room myself. You can bring our dinner there. Can you ask my caller to wait?”

“Of course, sir.” The staff member holds the door open for us.

Hand in hand, he guides me to the beautiful room. He gets me settled on a little sofa in the bedroom of the penthouse suite, my new Hermes Avalon blanket around my shoulders, and goes to take the call.

I sneak in a quick shower, dress in comfy pants and an oversized sweatshirt that have somehow appeared in the closet of the suite in just my size, then return to the couch, wrapping the lovely blanket around me once more and picking at the gourmet meal that must have been wheeled in when I was in the bathroom.

This call is taking a while. I wonder who it could be. An ex? An update on the car?

An ex?

Did I already say that?

While he’s gone, my snooping takes over my mind. He’s gone out of his way to plan this date. Taken care of every little thing. And here I am, holding this secret. Not only do I feel guilty for looking in the first place…

After this secret call, I need him to know that I know he’s got an engagement ring in his dresser.

I may enjoy letting him be in control, and I may turn into a helpless jellyfish when he dominates me, but I do not, will not mess around with men who already have a woman.

My heart sinks.

What if I’m falling for this man…

And he’s already taken?

CHAPTER 17

Lily

I sit there, cozy but stewing, waiting for him, the anxiety building inside me. What’s that saying wise people always tell us?

If something seems too good to be true…

It probably is.

Maybe it’s for the best. After all, I’ve just gotten out of a terrible relationship; why start another one? Especially with a controlling billionaire who has BDSM tendencies and a kink room in his house.

At least when this relationship ends, I know Rockwell won’t be stealing my money.

And here comes my very own Too-Good-To-Be-True, in the flesh, striding with the gait of a panther stalking his prey, dressed in a tailored suit that shows off every inch of his perfect frame, his handsome face clouded as if deep in thought.

My stomach twists as if a knife’s been planted in my gut.
