“It shows a great improvement. The last time we spoke, you were intent on not ever attending cabinet meetings.”

Daniel shrugged his shoulders. “It’s no big deal,” he said.

“Something has changed,” she pointed out.

“Like what?”

“Your mood has improved since we last met.”

Daniel raised his dark eyebrows. “How so?” he asked.

“You are less angry and you are actually talking a little bit more.”

“I don’t know.” Daniel didn’t realize that there was a change in his demeanor. “Does that mean we are done here?” he asked.

“No.” Dr. Ansari laughed a little. “Whatever it is that is making you happier, you need to hold on to it.”

“There is nothing.” Suddenly Fiona’s face popped into his mind. Since she had started working for him, he had been distracted from his situation. He spent more time arguing with her or figuring out ways to get rid of her rather than thinking about the accident. On a lot of occasions, talking to her had made him feel less depressed.

“Did you meet a woman?” said Dr. Ansari. Daniel crossed his eyebrows. He almost burst into laughter.

“You think that a woman would have an impact on my life?”

“Yes. Love is very powerful.”

Daniel burst out laughing. “You speak of it as if it is some sort of drug,” he said. Dr. Ansari smiled.

“It is important to have someone that you can love and who can love you. It really makes all the difference in the world.”

“Love isn’t for people like myself.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“As a crown prince, you marry strategically. You have to marry someone that will benefit the crown.”

“That may be true but you could develop feelings for the one you marry. Surely there is some choice. Your parents will not simply give you one woman and make you marry her.”

Daniel sighed. “I don’t like any of the women my parents bring me. Besides, no one can love me. They all just want to be around me for their personal gain. No one is sincere,” he said.

“You might find someone one day,” she replied.

“Whatever, I am not bothered.”

Fiona walked into the room wearing a long white pleated skirt and a grey T-shirt. Daniel raised his eyebrows. It was the first time he had ever seen her in a skirt. She smiled and bowed her head.

“Good morning, your highness,” she said. She looked at Dr. Ansari and then back at Daniel. “I am sorry to interrupt,” she said.

“What are you wearing?” Daniel asked her.

“What?” Fiona looked at herself and then back at Daniel.

“You are actually wearing a skirt.”

“It looks weird, doesn’t it?”

Daniel shook his head. “No comment,” he said. She actually did look nice.

“I am Fiona, his new caregiver,” she said as she extended her hand to Dr. Ansari. The doctor extended her hand and shook Fiona’s.
