Chapter 11

Kiro

Kiro sat at his dinner table thinking about Emma as he ate his dinner. He wondered how she had reacted to finding an empty parking space. He had gotten her dented car towed and taken for repair. She hadn’t taken him seriously when he said that he would get it towed. Everything would have been easier if she had just taken the car.

Emma was a strange woman. Kiro had never met a woman who would refuse something just because it was expensive. If anything, they always wanted more expensive items. Emma had refused the car and given him back the key. Kiro didn’t like that. She had risked her life to help him and so he wanted to pay her back.

Kiro took a sip of his drink and headed up to his room. Sadiq was now in El Sourial, Kiro thought to himself as he unbuttoned his shirt. He wondered if Sadiq was going to find out quickly who was behind the kidnap attempt. Kiro was meeting with the police the next day. They had taken the van into custody to have it dusted for fingerprints. He hoped that they would find something that would help him find out who the kidnappers were.

The next afternoon, Emma came to Kiro’s office as expected. He knew that she was going to come up to his office to discuss her car. He just wasn’t sure what kind of reaction he was going to get.

“Good afternoon, Sheikh Besada,” Emma greeted him.

“Yes? How can I help you?” Kiro looked up from his desk and leaned back in his chair. She had the car key in her hand.

“What happened to my car?” She was wearing a knee-length black dress that complemented her figure and black high heels. Her brunette hair was tied up into a ponytail.

“You tell me, you have the key in your hand,” he replied.

“Not this car, this one is yours. I’m asking about my car, did you have it towed?”

“Yes,” he replied simply. Emma blinked a couple of times before she spoke.

“That was my car,” she said. Her voice sounded smaller and adorable.

“That had a dent in it.”

“It was still mine. I should have gotten it towed or repaired. That was my decision.”

“You have a brand-new car now.”

“I don’t even know what I’m supposed to say to my family. I told them that it was a work car but I don’t think they believed me.” Emma placed her hands on her hips.

“You never told them about what happened last Saturday?” Kiro asked.

“No, I couldn’t. They wouldn’t want me working here.”

“You still want to work here; you’re not worried for your safety?”

Emma shook her head. “I doubt that they would try anything at your workplace again. That would be stupid. They would try at a different location,” she said.

“What are you doing on Saturday?” he asked her.

“Nothing. Do you need me to come in for work?”

Kiro opened his desk and pulled out a white card. He put it on the table. “Wear something nice,” he said to her. Emma raised her eyebrows as she reached out for the card. She took it and opened it.

“A charity gala,” she said. “I’ve never been to one of these. Do I have to wear a cocktail dress?”

“It’s a black-tie event.” He suddenly wanted to take Emma to the charity event because he was interested in learning more about her. He wanted to know what kind of a woman she was.

Kiro’s phone rang. He picked it up. “Yes?” he answered. It was Dania. She was informing him that the police had arrived. He told her to escort them into his office.

Dania knocked before she escorted the police detectives into his office. Kiro rose to his feet and greeted the two men. “Thank you for coming,” Kiro said to them.

“I should go,” Emma said before she walked out. She headed out of his office.

“Sheikh Besada, we are sorry to tell you we didn’t find anything in the van,” one of the detectives said to him.
