I hear a burst of laughter in the room.

“Come over here, Nick boy. We got something to discuss.”

Nick raises his hand in the air, dropping his gun beside me as he makes his way to the front.

“A little birdie told me that red sedan belongs to someone and he entered this warehouse with you.”

“Oh yeah, that? He’s just my long-time friend that came to visit.”

The stranger points a gun in Nick’s direction.

“Don’t fucking lie to me.”

“I’m serious, man. I’ve known him for years.”

I’m dialing Daniel’s number but it isn’t going through. He seems busy lately after his time in the hospital. “Pick up,” I whisper.

I hear the sound of a gunshot. I peep through the space and see Nick on the ground with a bullet planted in his head.

Fuck.

“Find the visitor for me,” the stranger orders the other two.

They begin to rampage the warehouse, tearing everything down in their way.

I dial Daniel’s number once more but he still doesn’t answer.

I take a shot at the bulb, killing the light in the warehouse.

“Fucking find him,” the voice commands, fiercer.

I creep out of the space using the light from outside and shoot one of them in the chest, causing the other two to growl in anger. The tattooed-faced strangers begin to shoot with each other.

I run out of the broken door as they move further into the warehouse in search of me. A bullet meets my arm as I try to slip into my car. The window breaks.

“Argh!” I grunt in pain as I hurriedly slide into my car. Not only is Nick dead but my supply is fucking gone.

This was supposed to be my fucking plan B…Damn it!

I drive as fast as I can with a bloody arm, cursing under my breath from the sting of the bullet in my arm and losing my only means of supply.

I’m going to have them all dead. They’d wish they never fucked with me.

While driving to my father’s house, I call my mother to say I need a doctor.

The sleeve of my white shirt is soaked with my blood as I get out of the car and walk into L’Uomo’s house. Mother has the family doctor, Larner, waiting for me.

He wastes no time checking my wound to take the bullet out. I bite on a wooden stick as he tears open my flesh to fish the bullet out. I’ve somehow gotten used to this.

“You need some rest, Alessandro,” the doctor says as he stitches up the wound.

I don’t tell Mother what happened. They don’t have to know that I failed at trying to prove myself again.

My father’s office is the only place in the house I want to be in right now. I want to be fucking alone.

The smell of dust hits me as I walk into the room. It looks like he hasn’t been in here for a while. Papers are neatly arranged on the wooden table.

I plop into the chair and squeeze my eyes shut for a minute.
