Guilia tries to take AJ from me to the car, but I stop her instead, wanting to have my son with me. The warmth in my chest holding him makes me want to have a lot more kids.

I never want to be the father L’Uomo was to me. Madre would have been happy to see her grandson, I couldn’t help but think.

We all walk out of the front door.

“We’ll stop by sometime,” Adriana says to Daniel as he walks back to his car.

“And we will be expecting you and the baby. Not the clown in the suit.”

“Fanculo stronzo (Fuck you asshole),” I respond.

Daniel smirks as he enters his car, momentarily raising his middle finger at me as he fakes to remove his hat. He honks a greeting as he drives out and we walk to my Porsche Taycan GT.

The men, a few steps before the car, nod greetings as I walk past them. Adriana takes AJ from me before I slide into the driver’s seat. The car smells like flowers.

My phone rings as I start the car. I take it out of my pocket. “Fabrizio.”

Adriana stares at me as I put the car in drive while talking to Fabrizio.

“It’s done. Chito’s dead.”

“Good.”

I end the call with a full grin on my face.

I’ve been hunting Chito for over a year since I killed his half-brother, Aldo.

He went into hiding and I couldn’t clip him. I had Fabrizio have one of my men infiltrate his gang. I’ve been stalling the strike to have the perfect time.

“Chito’s gone.”

“Finally,” says Adriana.

I drive out of the gate to the street, heading to Cedar Grove Cemetery. It is only a couple of minutes away from the house.

Adriana grabs the flowers from the backseat and holds AJ, stepping out of the car when we arrive at the cemetery. Beatrice meets us there. She's also wearing a black dress.

It is almost empty today. The sadness in the air irritates me, with the atmosphere awfully gloomy as I spot a few people standing next to gravestones. I hate it in the cemetery.

I’m holding Adriana, as we walk to the Gabriele's gravestone. Beatrice bends over to dust away leaves that have found their way onto his bed. Adriana holds our son as she bends to place some flowers on Gabriele’s bed.

Even after two years, it still feels fresh. We both stay there in silence for a few minutes, with AJ making noises.

I pull Adriana close as I notice the change in her expression. She always gets this way every time we come here. She still feels partly guilty for Gabriele's fate. I place a kiss on her forehead and squeeze her shoulder tight.

“AJ would have loved him,” she says in between a laugh and a stifled sob.

AJ begins to cry almost immediately, which makes Adriana and Beatrice laugh more. Adriana picks him up from the ground and kisses his forehead.

“Let’s go, Poppy.”

Life has taken a U-turn for me and her and the only constant is the fact that we’ll always stick together—as a family.

Beatrice wipes off tears as we stop by her SUV, talking for a little while.

“I’m naming her Beatrice Rose.” Adriana suddenly blurts.

I look over to Beatrice, who has her hand on Adriana's slightly protruding belly. She looks at Adriana and then at me, clearly surprised. “What?”
