I hit the guard standing by the door in the head, hard, with my gun. Aldo’s men keep showing the fuck up. It’s getting me infuriated with every minute I waste killing them. Adriana needs me. I made a promise to her and I’m not letting Aldo hurt her. Nobody gets the chance to.

“Get the fuck away from me.” I pull the trigger and shoot him in the head, pushing his body to the ground. He doesn’t make a sound as I step over his dead body to the door.

The building is on fire. Aldo won't live to see the sun again when I’m done with him. I’ll make him beg for death.

I angrily hit the door with my leg. It makes the wound by the side of my stomach hurt worse, but I ignore the pain, slamming the door with my foot again.

Adriana is the only person on my mind now—nothing else matters.

She is the absolute worst thing that has ever happened to me. I’m losing myself, knowing how much I want her to be mine. I’ve never had to care for anyone as much as I do for her.

She makes me weak. She drives me insane with desires I’m unfamiliar with. I let her do this to me and I’m not stopping it. Adriana has become the embodiment of my heart’s deepest desires, the very essence of my existence. And Aldo isn’t taking her away from me. No one is.

“Aldo!” I yell fiercely as I take another hit on the door and it goes crashing to the ground. The entire space is filled with a thick cloud of smoke.

Without hesitating, I run into the smoke-clouded room to look for Adriana. I’ll hunt down Aldo later, when I’m sure Adriana is alive and safe.

“Adriana!”

I cough out, bringing down the arm I have covering my face from the smoke to the side of my stomach. My fingers are wet with my blood stain.

I’m carefully navigating through the room, stepping away from pieces of wood that have fallen to the ground. My breath hitches when I see no one around.

“Adriana!”

I’m angry and scared as I walk.

Fuck.

It makes me more anxious to know where the fuck Adriana is.

“Adriana!” I yell again, straining my eyes as I search for Adriana in the smoke. No one is in sight.

The building’s coming down any minute. I spot another door and run to it. The door flies open as I slam it open with my leg. My eyes sting from the smoke.

I suck in clean air as I run out, farther away from the building. There she is. I finally found Adriana. But she is fighting Aldo’s grip as he holds her arm with a gun pointed at her head. Her eyes are swollen, her face is red, and bleeding cuts are scattered around her beautiful face. Beatrice is crying and yelling at Aldo and doesn't see me yet.

“Aldo!” The booming voice that leaves my mouth surprises even me. I move closer to them cautiously, my gun trained on Aldo.

He clenches his jaws as he stares back at me. I’m just as pissed seeing him. His fucking hands on Adriana— I want to shoot them off.

Adriana’s blue eyes light up as she sees me.

He hits Adriana in the head with the back of his gun as she tries to wriggle away from his grip and grabs her by the hair.

“I’ll gut you alive if you lay your fucking hands on her again.” I’m pointing my gun at him, meaning every fucking word I say.

“Ale,” Adriana cries.

“Shut the fuck up,” Aldo yells at her.

I grunt as he tests my patience and pulls Adriana’s head to the back.

It’s harder to take a shot at him with Adriana in front of him. My arm is still bleeding from the crash. I touch the wound by the side of my stomach to ease the pain a bit. But it does nothing. Fucking nothing!

I can’t let Aldo know I’m weak. Adriana’s life depends on me right now and I’m not letting her down, even if it costs my own life.

“Let go of her. It's me you want.” I keep the gun pointed in their direction, carefully looking for a vulnerable spot to hit him.
