"Is it my imagination or are they getting much more seductive and sensual?" Micki clung tightly to his arm, and he liked it.

"I guess it's inevitable. Free booze, and a party atmosphere, but yeah. Maybe I'll have security see if they can calm things down a bit before it gets out of hand." He turned to the bartender and ordered. Micki was drinking Hurricanes, while he just stuck to beer.

"You can say that this party is a success. And your business people? Are they here and having fun?" She asked and took her drink.

"Yes, some are, others had to leave." He gazed around the dance floor to see if he recognized anyone. A few looked familiar but most were strangers.

"Funny how that happens," he said.

"What happens?" Micki asked.

"That I hardly recognize anyone at this party."

"It is strange. What's the purpose of the party if you don't know anyone?"

"Let's go sit over there. Take a breather." The last thing he wanted was for it to get out of hand. They found an empty table and he took out his phone. "I think I'll check with Rob and make sure he's on top of things."

Good idea," she said and curled her legs under her.

Beck put his arm around her shoulders. "What's the purpose of the party? No real purpose other than July 4th, and we've been doing it for years. It started for the crew and then grew into this." He waved his hand.

His phone pinged and he nodded. "So far so good. He said there's a poker game going on which I'm not too keen on, and for now, we'll let it ride. He's had to kick a couple out of one of the guest cabins."

Her eyebrows popped up. "Really? You have to wonder at the audacity of some people, don't you?" She shifted her legs and he brought them onto his knees and absently stroked them.

It was an automatic response, not something he planned to do. She jumped when he touched her, but she didn't move away and rested her hand on top of his. They looked deep into each other's eyes, their connection powerful. "Yes, some people take it to the limit, don't they."

Now seemed like a good time to bring up Fletch. "There's been something I've been meaning to ask you."

"Oh? And what might that be?" She laid back against the cushions and watched him.

His phone buzzed and he ignored it the first time but it kept buzzing. "You better get that." Micki pointed at his phone.

He nodded. "Yeah?" Beck closed his eyes and shook his head. "I'll be right there."

"What's up?" She sat up and lowered her feet to the deck.

Beck stood, "This day! Seems there’s a issue below decks and I'm needed."

"Would you like me to come?" Micki asked.

He shook his head. 'No, you stay here and enjoy the party. I shouldn't be long."

Iwatched him go and wondered what was happening he needed to deal with.

Just like that, my desire to party vanished. The deck and party lights had long since come on and I yawned behind my hand.

My body still hummed from our dancing and the intimacy we'd found together. I stood and wandered to the stern, looking for a quiet spot to wait for Beck. My phone pinged on the way.

It was Fletch.

Hey girl, how goes the battle?
