Chapter 11

Violet

I stretched as I woke. Feeling the bed beside me, I wasn’t surprised to find that Zack was gone. We were in the middle of a very volatile situation. As much as I told myself that I wasn’t going to be intimate with Zack and Dylan again, it seems that either I’d become a whore, or that the feeling between us meant that there was no way of us resisting each other. There was a strong connection that was developing between me and both men. This was insanity.

Flipping the blankets off myself, I made my way to the bathroom and took a quick shower. The warmth of the water and strawberry smell of the liquid soap was so refreshing.

My foot was just stepping out of the shower when there was a knock on the door. Awww. Damn. Grabbing the hotel-issued robe from back of the door, I pulled it on, tying it up just as I opened the door to reveal Dylan.

“Dylan. Wh-” I didn’t even finish the sentence as I noticed a serving cart jam-packed with a variety of foods and beverages.

“I thought you might be hungry, so I took it upon myself to serve breakfast.” He didn’t wait for me to reply, “Excuse me.” I stepped aside as he brushed past me and entered the room. What was it with him and catching me in my robe? I was starting to get a serious sense of déjà vu.

“How are you doing?” he asked, parking the cart beside the sofa and uncovering the dishes. The smell of the food began to fill the room, causing my stomach to begin to grumble.

“This all looks amazing. I’m just going to get dressed, okay?”

He looked up at me with a wicked grin on his face. “Don’t feel you need to get dressed on my account.”

Damn he was sexy, with his dark short-cut hair and eyes so dark they looked like shining onyx. He had the concept of tall, dark, and handsome down pat. I was having a hard time comprehending that I’d been with both him and Zack physically. I was hardly a groupie and been around big names in the past, but Dylan and Zack had a sex appeal that I’d never noticed from other men before.

In an ideal world, I’d be able to be with both of them, and we’d all live happily ever after. But this wasn’t an ideal world. We were in a situation where every part of these men’s lives was under a microscope, and—if I didn’t watch myself—mine would be too.

Walking into the bedroom, I closed the door behind me, although to what end I didn’t know. He’d already seen me naked; there wasn’t anything left for him to see that he hadn’t seen already. But I closed it anyhow.

Grabbing my suitcase, I placed it onto the bed and opened it up. Deciding to keep it nice and simple, I grabbed a pair of jeans and a low v-neck forest-green t-shirt that I knew matched my eyes to perfection. Once dressed, I re-entered the living room to find Dylan sitting on the sofa with a plate of food already in front of him. He hadn’t started to eat yet, but I could see that he was itching to dig in.

Grabbing a plate, it took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to eat as there was such a selection. Everything from fresh fruit, to bacon and waffles. It was amazing. Once I was satisfied with my selections and had poured myself a tall glass of apple juice, I sat down next to him.

“How are you feeling?” he asked before popping a piece of bacon into his mouth.

I debated between flashing him a smile and lying though my teeth or telling him the truth. I suspected he already knew me well enough to see right through any type of bullshit that I tried to feed him. “I’m not doing great; I’ll be honest with you.”

“It’s a sticky situation, but I think you’re worrying more then you need to.”

“What do you mean more then I need to? My ass will be fired if Carter finds out.”

“If you get fired then we hire you directly.”

Flashing him a rueful smile, I shook my head. “Carter’s company is world renowned. That would be insane to do something like that.”

“Then call me crazy.”

“Besides, it’s not just you and Zack. You’ve got an entire group to consider.”

“Then we go to bat for you. What happens in our personal lives has no bearing on how you work for us.”

“I’ll be known as the manger that got the position for being the tour prostitute.”

Dylan huffed and rolled his eyes. “You’re being melodramatic.”

Raising a brow, I stared at him. “Am I really?” I could name a number of scandals right off the top of my head that ruined manager’s careers. I had my father’s name to protect as well. “And I refuse to allow my father’s memory to be tarnished because I couldn’t act appropriately around a couple of sexy singers.”

He grinned wide. “I’m sexy, huh?”

I groaned. Last thing he needed was his ego fed.

“Things always work out, you’ll see. Look at us. It started with just me and Zack playing our guitars on the sidewalks for quarters, now look at us.”
