A few hours later and our open plan kitchen and sitting room were stuffed full of people. Lara, Valentina’s mother, Lucille and Nicole were all squashed into the room amongst my siblings and their families for our official housewarming.
Nerves bit at my stomach as I watched Valentina playing the perfect hostess, adoring the chance to show off her baking skills and our cute little house.
The short little sundress she wore did ungodly things to me. Even as the months had passed, my desire for her hadn’t waned, and with each passing day, my love for her grew more fierce.
‘Lucille,’ I said, as she passed me. ‘Could I have a word?’
Her eyes narrowed for a moment before she nodded and followed me out the back door to our struggling vegetable patch.
‘You know I love your daughter with every inch of my soul?’
‘Mmm.’ Valentina’s mother had not fallen in love with me as fast as her daughter had.
‘I’m going to ask her to marry me. Today. This isn’t a request for permission, as there is no way I am willing to go on without proposing to her, but I hope that you’ll give us your blessing. I know how much it would mean to her.’
Her shoulders dropped as she sighed before reaching up and patting my cheek. ‘Logan, despite the age gap and the wholly wrong way you came into her life, I don’t doubt for a moment that you adore her. But if you so much as hurt her, I’ll skin you alive myself.’
I grinned and pulled her into a hug as she cleared her throat.
‘Thank you. I promise I’ll let no harm ever come to her again.’
‘Go in and get your girl,’ she said, folding her arms and leading the way back inside.
With her mother’s blessing, I couldn’t wait a single moment longer.
Pulling a single rose from where I had hidden it, I crept behind her and dropped to one knee. She continued to chat until she noticed the silence that had fallen around us. Following everyone’s stares, she turned around before covering her mouth.
Holding out the rose, I licked my dry lips and spoke. ‘Valentina Valetti, you came into my world like a hurricane, wrapping me up in you and holding me close. You are fierce, and sweet, and clever and you make me want to be a better man. A happier man. No dream is too big or too small with you in my life. This rose is from the place where you stole my heart. Back then it would have been frostbitten and decayed, cold and shrivelled, but now it blooms with a bright red fury like you do. You’ve transformed every part of my life, and brought me colour, fun, and beauty, replacing my loneliness and bitterness with nothing but good.’
Valentina sniffed as she lowered her tear covered hand and stroked my cheek tenderly.
‘I love you Valentina, and I don’t want another day to go by without the world knowing it. Baby, will you marry me?’
Her face broke out into a grin as she nodded. ‘Fuck yeah I will.’
She flew into my arms as our loved ones clapped and cheered around us.
‘I love you so much, Logan,’ Valentina whispered into my ear.
Then we were swept up into the arms of our family as we celebrated long into the night.
EPILOGUE
VALENTINA
The summer sun warmed my naked body as I writhed. With my hands tied up above me to an overhead branch, I couldn’t do much other than pant and wriggle as Logan dragged the cut roses across my skin.
‘Isn’t it amazing how roses can be so delicate, so soft, but also have such a nasty bite?’ Logan said as he rounded my body and scratched my skin with the sharp thorns before flipping the flower and using the soft petals to tease my nipples.
‘Please, Daddy, I need you so bad,’ I whimpered as Logan leaned in while taking the thorns to my nipple and swallowing down my cries with a sweep of his mouth over mine.
‘Not yet, my love. I told you I had a special treat for you? Didn’t I?’
‘You did.’
I’d been so excited to be back at Rosenhall for the beginning portion of our honeymoon that I hadn’t imagined there was a further surprise.
‘I’ve brought some friends to play with you. I hope you’ll be a good girl and show them how much you like cock.’
