I blinked my eyes open as he walked backward, holding his hands up, removing the delicious pressure from my throat.

‘No?’

‘I can’t do this. I’m not that guy.’

‘Logan, please...’

‘Valentina, this isn’t going to happen. Pretend that tonight was the first time we ever met. I’m done.’

I watched as he walked away, his shoulders bunched while I stewed.

The hell it was done.

I’d show him.

Somehow.

CHAPTER TWELVE

LOGAN

It was late by the time I got back to my room and every single part of me ached. The city glittered outside of the hotel suite windows and I could hear Nicole moving about in the apartment next to me on our exclusive floor.

It was an insight into what our marriage would be, she and I living different lives while presenting a joyous union to the rest of the world.

The suite was spacious and luxurious, with its sleek furnishings and chrome. And it was empty. Cold. Lonely.

For the thousandth time that night, my mind went back to Valentina, and her exploding into my real world unexpectedly. Our camming was supposed to be a bit of fun, a harmless deviance away from my actual problems.

Then there she was, all delicious curves and fuck me eyes, begging me to take her. It had taken every fucking inch of my resolve not to fuck her right there on the spot. Especially when she’d called me Daddy. That word on her lips was hellish perfection. I wanted to hear her whimper it beneath me and scream it from the rooftops as I bent her to my desires.

But I couldn’t

It was too messy.

And she was too young. A twenty-two-year-old was one thing for playing with online, but to actually toy with her in real life would be wrong.

But fuck, had she felt good beneath my fingers. The way she wet her lips and looked up at me like a little doe waiting to be devoured would stay with me for an eternity.

In my head.

In my dreams.

Definitely not in person.

A knock at my door broke me out of my train of thought. I looked through the peephole to see my future father-in-law and two of his heavies in the corridor.

With a sigh, I opened the door and welcomed them inside.

‘How can I help you, Tony?’

‘A drink would be a good start.’

I poured us both a heavy measure of whisky from the suite bar before sitting at the table in front of the floor to ceiling window.

‘I want to send you on an assignment. See it as your first job as part of the Valetti family.’

I sat forward and eyed Tony sceptically. He’d gone from unwelcoming to sending me out to work for him in a remarkably quick turn around. ‘I’m not officially a part of your family yet, Tony.’
