“Yeah, I just need to talk to you.”

“Okay?” she says with furrowed brows, hugging my dad goodbye.

I quickly make my way to the coat closet as Logan follows behind.

“Eli, is everything okay?”

I pull her tan wool coat from the rack, shocking myself that I’m not dragging her inside and locking the door. I’ve been thinking about it all night. And that dress with the fucking slit, man. It’s beyond tempting, but we need to have a very important and long-overdue conversation.

“Everything is okay.” I hold the jacket open for her to slip her arms through. “But I just talked to Ali, and the last thing I want is for us to have a miscommunication, so we need to talk.”

“What about Ali?” Logan follows me to the exit.

“Nothing about Ali. But she just reminded me that two people could be on two entirely different pages without even realizing, and I refuse to let that happen to us.”

We hastily make our way to the door. The reception is practically over, and we’ll see everyone tomorrow to say our goodbyes, so I’m not worried about skipping out without saying a word.

“Grab that bottle,” I whisper to Logan, stopping in my tracks right in front of the exit. I’d grab the champagne from the ice bucket myself, but I’m useless with these crutches.

“What?” Logan whisper-yells. “No, I’m not stealing.”

“Okay, you saint,” I laugh. “It’s not stealing. The wedding is practically over, and they have cases of champagne left. We need it more than any of these drunken guests do.”

I wait as Logan hesitates, contemplating her decision.

“Come on, baby,” I coax. “Be a rebel. Live a little.”

Logan rolls her eyes at me before letting out a defeated sigh. She looks around the reception room before slyly grabbing an unopened bottle from the ice bucket and tucking it inside her wool coat.

I’m pretty sure they’re going to be begging people to take champagne home when this reception ends in an hour, but I’ll let my rule-following girl believe she’s living on the edge right now.

“What did you want to talk about?” Logan asks as soon as we are through the cabin door, stripping off her jacket and once again tempting me with that fucking green dress.

“Not yet.” I head into our bedroom with her following behind. “I’m gonna need you to bundle your cute California ass up in as many warm layers as possible.”

“We aren’t going back outside. It’s hella cold.”

“Oh, we are going outside.” I slip off my suit jacket, hanging it in the closet. “I wanna show you something.”

Logan looks utterly confused as I loosen the tie around my neck. I make my way to her as she stands next to the bed. “Also,” I begin, my hands finding her waist, skimming upward. “I’ve been thinking about fucking you in this dress all night, so I would like for you to note the restraint and maturity I’m showing by asking you to put even more clothes on so we can talk.” My thumbs find her hardened nipples, circling them.

My fingers trail upward, brushing over her collarbones, grazing the straps of her dress. One of my hands wraps around her back, ever so slightly tugging on a string and untying the silky green number.

I slip one strap off her shoulder before the other drops as well, the emerald-green fabric pooling at her feet.

Taking a step back, I admire my bare and beautiful girlfriend, a tempting smirk playing on her lips. I take a wandering look over her naked frame before rubbing my hand over my jaw and letting out a deep audible breath, trying to contain myself.

“I’m so goddamn mature now.” Turning around, I shake my head. “I fucking hate it.”

As soon as we are both bundled up, I grab the unopened bottle of champagne and lead us up the stairs, hopping on one foot. I head into the second room on the right, not turning on the light. The moon is plenty bright tonight as it pours into the large window on the far wall and illuminates the entire space.

“Marc told me about this.” I make my way over to the windowsill in my brother’s room.

Chapter 31

Logan

Eli grabs a blanket off his brother’s bed before cracking open the two large windows. The moon is almost full and extremely bright, giving us plenty of light to see our surroundings. He steps one foot out onto the flat roof on the side of Marc’s room before swinging the other out as well. He holds his hand out and helps me do the same.
