The masculine one of the pair had the same general face shape as Serval, and they shared the same yellow gold eyes. But his olules were much longer, past his shoulder blades, and they were a vibrant, rich, hot pink in color. His white skin also had a pink tint to it. He was standing there with a curious expression on his face.

The female one was the same height as the male. Though she was much softer, rounder, with a fierce expression in her deep, black eyes. She had clearly been the one Serval inherited his coloring from, but they were reversed on her. Her skin was the dark blue of his olules, and it was her own olules that were pale, practically white, blue. She had a ring in one nostril, glinting bright silver, and her olules were longer than either of the men, going down past her waist, which was where the holodisplay in the air faded off.

She looked angry.

“Servalee!” She shouted immediately. “This is how you choose to let your mother know that you’ve found your mate? You didn’t bother to send a comm, a message, a ‘hey, hech you’, nothing!? I have to find out that my own son is mated through a news presentation?!”

Serval was doing his best not to make a face as Sophie gave him a smirking, ‘told you so’ grin. She had to be off screen where they couldn’t see because they weren’t paying her a bit of attention, just looking at their son. The helpless expression he gave her was met with a snicker.

“Your name is Servalee?” She whispered, delighted with this new information. It was so cute!

He sighed, realizing no help was coming his way. He turned back to his mom and started-

“I was going to tell you-”

“Not before telling the rest of the known universe first though, huh?! You’re lucky I saw the presentation before Olu did! I would never be able to live it down if that yapping, gossip monger knew my own son was mated before me!”

“I’m sorry, mother-”

“Not as sorry as you’re going to be! You’re trying to break my heart, aren’t you? Do you really hate your family that much?”

“No, moth-”

“Woll, what did I do to him?” The female turned to the male, her expression switching immediately from fierce to despairing. “Why does our son hate us? Am I bad ilala? I am, aren’t I?”

“You are not a bad ilala,” Serval said quickly. “I love you very much. I just wasn’t ready for my mate to have to deal with all of this.”

“All of what?!” She whipped her head around, right back into furious. “You think I’d be a bad ilala to your mate then, is it? You’re ashamed of me? You think I’m too much.”

“No, ilala, I…” Serval’s voice trailed off as she continued to berate him, and Sophie smothered a laugh behind her hand. As far as she was concerned, he deserved every word of that lecture, and probably a bit more.

But still riding high on the afterglow of her orgasm, she decided to take pity on him. She stepped up to his side, knowing the moment she came into frame, because both of the allowee suddenly locked onto her as his mother’s words died in her throat.

“Hello!” She greeted happily in his primary language since that’s what they had been speaking. “It’s nice to meet you both at last. I’m Sophie, Serval’s mate.”

“Oh!” His mother suddenly stood straight, smiling at her so sweetly it was like her previous fury had been just a her imagination. “Hello, pretty human. It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Ellow. Good spirits, forgive me. I can’t believe Servalee would let you see me like that.” She threw a glare at her son, silently yelling at him now for letting her behave that way in front of strangers. It was a look Sophie knew well, because it was one her own mother had given her before.

“No, I agree with you,” she said, eyes wide with innocence and understanding. “I’ve been begging him to let me see you, but, you know, he’s been so selfish, saying he wants to have me to himself for just a bit longer.”

The male, Woll, let out a laugh as his mother tittered sweetly.

“I remember those days well,” he said, his voice surprisingly deep. He looked at his mate. “Do you recall, my uwale? How angry your appa got with me when I would steal you away for days on end without telling him? Oh, I thought he’d rip out my olules with his bare hands.”

The reminder of their own misspent, love filled youth, softened his mother further. “Who could forget? I thought you two would come to blows that second time.”

“We very nearly did,” he chuckled, putting his arm around her. Their olules immediately began to wind together, like they were embracing. “I can hardly blame Servalee for wanting to keep his mate to himself for a while. I mean, she’s beautiful, isn’t she? And a human at that. He’s going to be the envy of the entire commu.”

Serval couldn’t keep a smirk from his face as he put an arm around Sophie’s waist. The look he gave her, however, was one of gratitude for saving his hide. She returned it with a smug smile of her own, her brow cocked up in silent boast.

“When are you coming home, Servalee?” Ellow finally asked, focusing back on him, her tone soft and sweet now that her mate’s arms were around her.

“Er, well,” he hesitated, and her gaze immediately sharpened again. He cleared his throat. “At your earliest convenience, ilala, of course.”

Ellow beamed. “Then you must come now! Your sister is home from academy for break and you know she’d love to see you and meet your new mate.”

Serval smiled in defeat. “I’m eager to see her too.”

“Good! Then you’ll come home now.”
