“I know, but I feel it’s my fault. I should have wrapped up my work sooner and—”

“No,” he snaps. “It’s not about you or me anymore. It’s about us.”

“I know, but I can’t see you so stressed.”

“Do you want to do something about it?” He whispers, clasping my chin.

“Anything to relieve your tension? Yes,” I nod.

He grins at my innocent reply and lifts me into his arms. It doesn’t take a genius to know where he’s taking me and why. And I’m ready for another round.

VIKRAM

After two hours in bed, I finally get Maahi out for dinner. It’s our last night in Udaipur, and tomorrow morning, we’ll fly back to Delhi. I want to make the most of our private time together. Not that we won’t have time in Delhi, but this honeymoon-like feeling will fade as we get busy with work.

Maahi places the order. “Three Naan, Four Kulchas, One Butter Paneer Masala, Two Lassis, Veg Dum Biryani, Dal Tadka, and Two Masala Papad.” She turns to me. “Anything to add?”

I grin and shake my head. She’s ordered enough already, and I know she’s starving. I exhaust her, but she doesn’t mind. As the server leaves, she holds my hand over the table.

“So, what will you do now?”

“Regarding?” I ask, entwining our fingers.

“Your grumpy clients, Vikram.”

I roll my eyes. “I’ll manage, Cub. You don’t have to worry. I’m just surprised Dad didn’t tell me about this. He never hides anything related to business.”

“You should talk to him. Maybe he has a plan or needs your support. He can’t handle everything alone, Vikram.”

“I know. Neither can I without him.”

Dad and I are like partners in crime. We do nothing in business without consulting each other, yet I made this huge decision without his input. I feel guilty, though not about my decision.

“Mood off again?” Maahi pouts. “Do you want me to help you relax?”

I know she’s teasing me, and I love it. “Here? I don’t mind, Cub.”

She pulls my hand to her mouth and kisses my fingers. “I meant this, dirty mind.”

That definitely brings my smile back. I lean in and kiss her forehead gently. She lets me linger there, and when we look at each other again, she asks, “Better now?”

“Better,” I assure her.

The server returns with the food.

“I’m so hungry,” Maahi complains, savoring the meal. I just admire her. She’s really starving. When she notices I’m gawking, she frowns. “All because of you.”

“I know,” I chuckle, feeding her the next morsel.

“Don’t expect me to feed you in return. I’m busy,” she mocks, but then holds a morsel for me.

How could I refuse when my wife is so keen on feeding me? I eat from her fingers and lick them, making her squeal.

We take a long walk back to the resort after dinner. Maahi shares her thoughts about Preet and her husband, wondering if they too made love on their first night, which cracks me up. I want to kiss her right on the road, but Maahi pushes me away and runs ahead. I chase her and, in seconds, scoop her into my arms. We kiss, and fortunately, the road is deserted, so my wife has nothing to worry about.

VANRAJ SINGH GROVER

Meera storms out of the bedroom, shouting for Jack to get her a strong coffee. I deny Jack and decide to make it myself. When I reach the living room, she’s sitting on the couch, her head buried in her hands.
