Maya took a seat across from her.

“Is everything alright?” she asked.

Roshni shook her head.

“No. Nothing is okay. It all depends on how you handle this situation now.”

Tension washed over Maya.

“Situation? I thought I had already handled it yesterday.”

“Yes, you did. But by failing to communicate with our Sponsor, you brought this upon yourself again.”

Maya did not understand anything.

“You left before the success party,” Roshni exclaimed.

“Yes, but I had your permission already,” Maya answered politely. “And there was no chance I would reply back to that flirtatious message from our Sponsor. That's my personal choice.”

Roshni was stunned for a moment. She apprehended what must have happened. Ranveer Malhotra might have liked Maya's walk, and he might have sent her a personal message that did not sit well with Maya. That's why she ignored him, and Ranveer couldn't take it lightly.

“Look, Maya, I don't need to know what happened between you two. But this has had a negative impact for sure. You won't be getting any incentives for the work you did.”

Maya was shocked, and her temper rose.

“Wait a minute, where are my incentives linked to all this? I did my work, in fact, I exceeded expectations. Everyone is already expressing their appreciation.”

“Not Ranveer,” Roshni interrupted. “You know he is the one who approves the release of finances for us. He won't pay you for this work until—” she paused.

Maya's blood was already boiling, and now, upon hearing this, her heart skipped a beat. These incentives meant a lot to her. Her mother's next treatment depended on them.

“Until what, Roshni?” she muttered in a harsh tone.

“Until you meet him once and apologize.”

Maya let out a groan.

“This is nonsense,” she yelled. “Sorry for my language,” she quickly added in an apologetic tone, considering Roshni was their client. “But this is insane. Why should I apologize? Just because I rejected his advances? I won't do it.”

Roshni nodded.

“As a woman, I understand that you have the right to ignore anyone with whom you don't want to have a connection, Maya. But professionally, I think it was quite rude of you to completely ignore him. You could have met him at the success party last night, at least once, and thanked him for the bouquet and card. You could have handled it more diplomatically, but instead, you chose to damage his ego. I know Ranveer. A man like him can never swallow his pride. He can ruin someone's career just to protect his precious ego.”

Maya was threatened by that explanation about their Sponsor, but she chose not to show the fear on her face.

“Fine. I can't afford to lose my incentives. They mean more to me than my pride. So, yes. I will apologize to him if that satisfies his fragile ego,” she concluded.

Roshni smiled brightly.

“I knew you would agree. So, I will inform him that you will be at his office by 04:00 p.m. today. I'm sure Vikram won't mind since he doesn't want to mess with Ranveer,” Roshni commented, a broad smile playing on her lips.

“Whatever time suits for him.” Maya got up from the chair and left. Despite her disappointment, she was determined to do this for her mother.

Ranveer’s office

“Sir, Maya Bajaj is here,” Aman informed knocking on his cabin door.

Ranveer had been eagerly awaiting her arrival, but now that she was so close, he felt unprepared.
