Exhausted, she collapsed onto the bed, succumbing to sleep. However, her rest was marred by unsettling dreams, each featuring the face of the same man who had been haunting her thoughts. Hoping for a respite from further surprises, Maya drifted off, longing for the next day to bring an end to her work commitments so she could return home to her mother.

Maya and her entire team of models reached the client's office. The models were taken for styling, and Maya headed to the conference room to have a quick briefing with the client. She built a good rapport as usual and then explained their entire agenda for this on-site commercial, for which they had come all the way from India. The client seemed impressed learning the details and then decided to introduce Maya to their sponsor.

The immediate thought that came to her mind as she heard that word was of Ranveer Malhotra, and before she could convince herself that he could not be here, reality broke in hard. He stepped into the cabin without showing any signs of surprise seeing her there, as if he already knew he would be seeing her.

“That's Ranveer, the sponsor of this commercial,” the client introduced.

Maya unwillingly got up and shook hands with him, realizing that Ranveer pressed their hands very tightly, on purpose. There was a wide smirk on his face, which kind of instigated her to hate him all the more.

“The world is so small, Miss Bajaj, isn't it? We keep bumping into each other quite many times these days,” Ranveer teased.

Maya managed to pull her arm away from his.

“Just pure coincidence, Mr. Malhotra. Anyways, let me check on the models.”

She found an excuse to leave, but she was here on his mercy. He was the boss, after all.

“Wait,” he barked.

She stopped and turned around, hoping he wouldn't create a scene.

“Join me in my cabin; I have something urgent to discuss.”

What work could he have with her that didn't concern the presence of their client? He said something to the client and then headed out. Maya unwillingly followed him to his cabin.

Chapter 7

Hongkong – Client Office – Ranveer’s Cabin

With reluctance, Maya trailed behind Ranveer Malhotra as he led her into his cabin. Uncertain of his intentions, she wondered why he had summoned her. He courteously gestured for her to enter first, prompting her to cautiously survey the room. A sense of unease crept over her as she contemplated the prospect of being alone with a man of his stature in such close quarters. Sensing her apprehension, Ranveer caught her gaze, and a sly smirk played across his features.

“Get in, Miss. Bajaj,” he barked.

Maya clenched her jaw but followed his orders. He shut the door after she crossed in and then headed straight to his desk. She kept fisting her phone in her hand.

“Sit,” he barked again.

“No thanks. Please tell me why you have called me here.”

Ranveer gazed back at her.

“That’s not how you talk to your sponsor.”

He was right. That’s not how she should talk to her senior management, but she couldn't help it. Whenever he was around, she just lost her sense of patience.

“You know what?” He sat on his chair and leaned back. “I have always wondered where you get that extra frustration on your face when we are together. I hope that’s your true expression, and you are not making it up to lure me because I like feisty women, and you must have read it somewhere in articles.”

Maya directly met his eyes. Ranveer smirked and continued taunting.

“Now, don’t say I am not your type because that would be a lie.”

Maya fisted her fingers. Could she smack his face? Ranveer carefully looked at her fist, which she was not even trying to cover up.

“Want to punch me, Miss Bajaj?” he frankly asked.

“I wish,” she controlled her urge to scowl and rolled her eyes. “Can you please tell me why I am here?”
