She traced her finger along his cheek before bringing it to his lips.

“I know that look on your face,” she teased. “You're planning something exciting for tonight.”

Ranveer's jaw tensed as he closed his eyes momentarily, feeling her touch on his face.

“You shouldn't have done that,” he hissed, then carried her to bed to revel in another night of their togetherness.

A Week Later – Malhotra Office

“How much more time, Nitin?” Ranveer roared into the phone. “I need the contents of that CD; do you get that? No more delays. I want to know what Dev Malik had been hiding all these years in that study of his.”

He hung up and tossed the phone on the table. It had been weeks now since this task was pending. The CD found in the study room of Dev Malik had to be important.

Aman, his secretary, stepped into his cabin with permission.

“Boss, we’ve got a problem.”

Ranveer stared at Aman coldly as he relayed the details of the issue. By the end of it, Ranveer Malhotra was completely out of control. He had expected something of this sort to happen in the near future, but not so soon.

“Does Dhruv know?” he asked.

“I believe not, Sir.”

Ranveer thought for a second.

“Fix my meeting with Kunal Malik for this evening. I don’t care how busy he is, where he is, or with whom he’s busy. I just want to meet that man and sort this out.”

“Yes, Boss.”

As Aman left, Ranveer sank into his chair, leaning back and closed his eyes. He needed a break. A serious break after all of this ended. He would take Maya out somewhere, just him and her. The place didn't matter—the country, city, nothing did. But until then, he had to fix things here and ensure nothing turned evil again. Damn! He was already missing his wife badly.

The next phone call broke his stance, but it also put a smile back on his face because it was his wife's call.

“How did you know I was missing you?” he asked, answering the call.

“I just knew,” she replied, putting the file away at her desk in Blitz. “You don’t sound great. What happened?”

Ranveer got up from his chair and walked to the glass windows.

“Kunal Malik…”

“Kunal?” she repeated. “What did he do now?”

“Hasn’t done anything yet, but he’s about to. And I have to stop him.”

“Ranveer,” she sighed. “Will you stop speaking in codes?”

“Kunal is drawing up some legal papers through his lawyer, snatching all the Malik property for himself. He’s leaving none of it for Dhruv.”

“What?” Maya snapped, equally annoyed. “How can he do that?”

“He can go to any extent, like his father. I never trusted that man. But don’t worry. I am ensuring he doesn’t succeed. I am meeting him this evening.”

Maya was relieved to hear that. If Ranveer had decided to set things right, he would.

“So, coming home late tonight?” she tried to change the subject.

Ranveer’s mood lightened up.
