“Maya Bajaj,” Aman replied.

Ranveer bit his inner cheek; she had to call. She must have seen this article too.

“Answer her,” he replied. “And keep it on speaker mode.”

“Okay, Boss,” Aman took the call.

“What the hell is this, Aman?” Maya roared. “Who gave my picture for an article like that and why?”

Ranveer Malhotra leaned his back on the chair, with comfort.

“Maya, we are equally surprised.”

“Don’t give me that reply, Aman. If this has anything to do with your Boss, then I am not going to leave him this time. He cannot play with a woman’s dignity. If he thinks his money and manipulative tricks will work on me, then he is wrong. I am not going to let him tarnish my image like that. It’s an act of cowardice.”

Aman gulped. Maya was oblivious to the fact that the man she was talking about was listening to their conversation. Ranveer gestured Aman to pass him the phone, which he did.

“Shut your big mouth, Miss Bajaj.”

Maya recognized his voice, and her whole body glued to the spot. Aman and Ranveer were together? Why didn’t she realize that before? Her breath caught in her throat.

“Now I understand your whole plan. First, try to show yourself a weak and sincere woman for whom her values and morals are her life. And then when that didn’t let your motives succeed, you got your reporter friend to click this picture of yours and make such a nasty article so that you can get my attention back on you. And finally, you pretend as if it’s me who did this, not you. Wow. You played it really well. Where did you learn all these tricks?”

Maya was enraged by his false allegations.

“How many other men have you fascinated in your web with similar acts? Or is your affection only for men related to Malhotra?” he added.

“Stop it,” she yelled in anger.

“Why did you do all this? For money?”

Tears brimmed in Maya’s eyes.

“I am sure it's for money,” he declared. “Women like you have only one God. Money. And if that’s so, why did you return that cheque I had sent you last week? Or was it because I should have increased the zeros at the end of that figure?”

Maya lost her patience.

“Keep your money and your rubbish thoughts to yourself, Mr. Malhotra. I have no interest in them.”

“Then what’s your interest, Miss. Bajaj? Let me know. Maybe I can help you attain your interests if that suits my mood too.”

Maya was angered. He didn’t leave a chance to demoralize her.

“I am going abroad tomorrow evening; Alone. I won't mind if you travel with me and give me good company there, while I fill your pockets with your needs.”

That was it. She couldn't hear it any further. If he couldn't stop, she knew where to draw her line. She disconnected the call. She wanted to shout at him for treating her like that, for misbehaving with her, for crushing her image, for thrashing her character, but words didn’t form in her mouth at that time. There was a knock at her cabin, and she quickly composed herself. Her boss Vikram got in.

“Hey. Do you have a few minutes to discuss something?”

“Uh, yeah. What is this about?”

Vikram got inside her cabin and laid out their next project plans. He discussed it with Maya and then waited for her input.

“It’s great. I am sure our Models will shine there. But where is this event?”

“Hong Kong,” he replied. “You and the team will have to fly tomorrow night. I will make all the arrangements.”

“Tomorrow?” she asked, unprepared.
