“Anyways, I am still sorry for interrupting your precious little moment. But I am glad things are progressing.”

“Ask Roy to meet me.” He cut Aman’s words.

“Okay, now or...”

“Now. It’s urgent.” Ranveer leaned back on his chair with pride shining in his eyes. “I am getting married tomorrow. I need Roy to draft the marriage papers.”

Aman was shocked.

“Marriage? With Maya Bajaj?”

“Who else do you think can handle me?” he snapped. “Of course, I am marrying Maya Bajaj. Ask Roy to make the papers ready, and you will coordinate with the wedding planner to make all the arrangements in Jaipur. Daadi will decide what’s needed and where. Get in touch with her.”

Aman was more than happy for his Boss. He had seen Ranveer dating other girls before, but none of them lasted for long. Never did he expect his Boss to choose Maya as that special woman though, the same woman he hated once.

“You don’t worry, Boss. I will ensure everything runs smoothly.”

Promising that, he slipped out to start the arrangements.

Chapter 46

Paradise

“Ma'am is not home. She has gone out,” Laura informed Ranveer as soon as he reached home from work and asked for Maya.

“Alone?”

“No, Aisha is with her and she has a driver and a guard too,” Laura replied.

Ranveer took a minute to ponder why Maya would have gone out at that hour of the evening. Usually once she returned home, she didn’t plan any outside activities. She was a homely person who loved the warmth and coziness of her own space.

“And her mother is resting in her room, Sir,” Laura added.

That brought Ranveer back to the present. Yes, he had to meet Garima. That was his important agenda for the evening. He made his way to Garima's room.

“Ranveer,” Garima got down the bed, visibly excited to see him. She was likely elated that Maya had told her about their marriage plans.

Garima came forward and for the first time, hugged him tightly. It was an unusual feeling for Ranveer. Apart from his grandmother, no one had hugged him so affectionately. Of course, Maya Bajaj was an exception. Whenever she embraced him, she stirred every hormone in his body.

Garima pulled back from the hug and cleared her throat.

“Stop daydreaming now. All your wishes are going to come true,” she teased. “Sit here,” she directed.

Ranveer had Laura bring in a designer box. After handing it to Ranveer, she left the room.

“What is this?” Garima asked quizzically.

“I want to marry your daughter,” he stated, offering her the box.

She laughed at his formal tone and decided to tease him further. With mock sternness she asked, “Is there a chance I could deny this marriage from happening?”

“No,” he quickly shook his head. “The marriage is inevitable. And since Maya has agreed, I wouldn’t let anyone interfere in our relationship.”

Garima laughed again and accepted the box. “That’s a very demanding marriage proposal to make to the bride’s mother,” she joked. “When Maya told me an hour ago that she had accepted your proposal, I could hardly believe this was happening. I'm so glad things are moving forward in her life. She has always been a loner, quiet in her own little world, until you barged in. The way you've cared for us both, I don't think she deserves anyone else. You're perfect for her.”

Ranveer accepted the compliment but wanted to clarify a few things from his end as well. Gently taking her hand, he said, “I can be difficult at times. Maya still doesn’t know everything about me. I've had a few bad relationships that tarnished my reputation publicly. I’ll likely be a lifetime trouble maker for her. But I promise you this - she'll never lack for love and care. That's the one thing I've never given anyone before. And I have it in abundance for Maya.”

Garima's eyes misted over with tears. She smiled weakly and patted their clasped hands. “Who said you haven’t shown love and care before? Since you entered our lives, you've showered us with everything you have got. Ranveer, you've treated me better than my own son would have, if I'd had one. Who cares for an ailing parent these days? And who was I to you? Just Maya's mother. Yet you took responsibility for me without complaint. I know you’re paying my treatment bills. It’s not the money, it’s your concern that has won my heart too.”
