“See goodness in people,” she urged.

“I see goodness in you. Just you,” he palmed her cheek. “You are my goodness, Maya, my only deed that makes me proud of myself.”

Her pulse fluttered. She had never expected Ranveer to admit something so sensitive about his affection for her.

“In answer to your demands…” he continued. “I am ready to open up my past if that makes you trust me over having a permanent relationship. But I don’t know how you will react.”

She didn’t understand what to process out of his words. Should she be happy that he agreed to talk to her about his past or be scared that it might make her run away from him?

“We will decide that later,” she murmured.

“No,” he got closer to her, his lips inches apart from her face, their noses touching each other. “If you happen to run away, I will follow you till my end.”

“Is that a threat?” her voice was panicky.

“I would never harm you, Maya. Never again. Not even in my dreams. I will stalk you till my end for my internal peace, not to snatch yours.”

Maya felt intensely pulled towards him for that one statement. But acting upon it now would only complicate things. She blinked.

“Noted,” she blinked. “Now will you please start the elevator?”

He smirked, wondering where she got that self-control in her to avoid even touching him, forget kissing.

He pulled away from her and pressed the button for the elevator to start again. Maya took a sigh of relief. Words failed in her mouth, and she desperately waited for the doors to open so that she could make her way to the room, shut herself in the room, and then take care of this unknown tickle happening inside her body.

Malhotra Office – Next Day

“Boss,” Aman entered the cabin.

Ranveer was about to pack up and leave for home. The day wasn’t bad. He just happened to kill the old deals that had been pestering their company shares for the last year. A new deal was lined up too with the Malaysian clients, and he really looked forward to meeting the client in person.

“Aman, ask Mohan to be ready. I am leaving for home.”

“Mohan is ready, Boss, but not to take you home.”

Ranveer retrieved his suit and looked at Aman.

“I don’t recall having any other schedule for this evening.”

“Miss Bajaj planned it.”

That caught his attention wholly.

“What has she planned?” he got intrigued.

“A dinner at Sand Dunes Beach Resort.”

Again Sand Dunes? Why there?

“Fine. Who selected the venue?” he reconfirmed.

“Miss Bajaj, Boss. I just arranged your table for tonight there. And I have already sent a vehicle to pick her up from work. Mohan will drive you to the resort and pick you both up when done.”

“That’s perfect, Aman.”

“Thank you, Boss.”

Aman walked out, whereas Ranveer kept thinking about what could have led Maya to arrange a private dinner tonight.
