“I don’t have much to tell.” His tone was very straightforward, as if he wanted to cut the topic there. “I am taking a shower, pick a room for yourself and settle in. We will meet Daadi in an hour.”

Maya nodded, maintaining an intense gaze on his face, deliberately avoiding the temptation of letting her eyes wander over his shirtless physique.

As Ranveer left to shower, she put her hands on her waist, scanning the room. She had a lot to uncover from him; about his family and, most importantly, about his connection with Adira Bajaj.

“Not this,” Ranveer intervened as Maya was about to put on her usual attire.

“What's wrong with these palazzo pants?” she retorted.

“Daadi takes the first impression of people very seriously. I want you to wear this.” He handed her a box.

Maya couldn't refuse, considering she was here solely for him, even though faking a positive impression on Daadi was never part of their deal. She opened the box with curiosity, finding a beautiful blue Anarkali dress inside.

“It’s pretty,” she murmured. She rarely had the chance to wear anything other than her formal outfits. But who bought this? Aman? Laura? Or Aisha? It couldn't be Aman, as he was always busy with Ranveer's official work. Aisha had never left her side since getting her job back to guard her. It had to be Laura.

“Hard to believe Laura has great taste in Indian outfits,” she commented.

Ranveer's brow arched.

“Laura?” he asked. “This is not her choice.”

“She didn't get this? Then who?”

Ranveer remained silent. He considered it unnecessary for her to know that he had specifically asked the best designer to create an outfit for Maya for her first meeting with Daadi. Out of the ten designs, he chose this one.

He gestured at his watch, indicating they didn't have time to discuss this.

“We are getting late. Daadi hates people who don’t value time,” he muttered.

Maya rolled her eyes.

“She is your Daadi, your family, not some client who will take back business if we're late.”

“You haven’t met her yet. You will know what she is once you meet her. Now, hurry up.” He patted her back and walked out.

Ranveer’s Daadi seemed to be very much like him. She was already scared to meet the old lady. But why did he want to introduce them? He got her here for an auction, never mentioning anything about seeing his grandmother. Had he told her before, she would have been more prepared.

The resort's private elevator took them to the top floor, which had been transformed into a luxurious house. Ranveer stiffened as the doors slid open, revealing an elderly woman of almost 65 years standing with two more women holding a Puja Thali. Maya immediately recognized Ranveer’s Daadi from her appearance and the determined look in her eyes. The woman appeared equally resolute, much like her grandson. Ranveer stepped out of the elevator, with Maya following him. He bent down to take Daadi’s blessings.

“Khush raho” (Stay happy), Daadi blessed him, and before he could hug her, she gestured for him not to.

“Now you got time to come and see me?” she poured her anger at him.

“I was busy,” he replied.

“I can see that,” she cut him off, giving Maya a sharp look.

“She is Maya, and Maya, she is my Daadi,” Ranveer introduced.

Maya joined her palms and then leaned to take the woman’s blessings. Daadi gave the same blessing to her that she earlier gave to Ranveer and gestured for the other two women to hand over the Puja thali to her.

“You know I don’t like all these formalities, Daadi,” Ranveer interrupted.

“And you know I will still never listen to you.”
