“Oh. Okay. Whatever that means.”

“No, stop being stubborn for a second and listen to me.” Caesar tried to calm me, but it was only making me more anxious.

“I’m trying to but you won’t spit out what the hell you’re saying. This isn’t a business deal. It’s me Caesar, just tell me what’s up for Christsakes.”

“There’s this woman down here. I think she’s exactly what the three of us need. I want you to come and meet her.”

“I understand. That would have been nice to know before I signed the decree.”

“Maybe there’s a way out?”

“No, there isn’t. I have a different suggestion. Why don’t you guys come up here to meet Elara? If there aren’t any sparks, we’ll discuss alternatives. One of them being that I come there to meet this girl you’re talking about.”

“Sam.” He corrected me.

“Sam.” I said.

“I have a date with her tonight.” He said.

“Fine. But then we need to get you up here and the two of you need to give it a fair go. I don’t want you saying no because you’re into Sam.”

“Deal. I’ll talk to Tavi.”

“Make sure he understands. I know he’s ignoring my calls because he’s into her. Tell him that I’m not afraid to come get in his ass about this. We agreed to communicate. Make sure he calls me back instead of avoiding the fucking truth.”

“Will do.” He sighed. “You’re right. He’s already very into her.”

“So are you. You’ve never dismissed my messages. You’re supposed to be the logical one.” I pushed.

“Look Torin–”

“No. Maybe I would see things differently if you guys would have at least warned me. Instead, you avoided me and have been keeping me out of the know. How long have you been courting this woman, huh?”

“About two weeks or so…”

“And how long have you been interested in her?” I asked.

“A while.”

“What’s a while? Stop bullshitting me, Caesar.”

“About two years or so.”

I closed my eyes and tried not to see red.

“Torin, we never thought–”

“I’ll call you back when I need you two here.” I hung up the phone and was pissed that I couldn’t throw something. I hit the steering wheel and growled.

My phone rang and I glanced at the screen reluctantly. It was someone from Club Sin. I cleared my throat and answered.

“She’s agreed on a day and time. Friday at 8pm.” The caller said.

“That’s three days away.” I confirmed more for me than for them.

“Correct. Would you like to reserve a room?” He asked.

It was risky to assume that dinner would lead to a scene. Presumptuous.
