Ardol was standing behind her, his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.

“What?” She stopped halfway up the ramp.

“Did I overhear you promising your future cub an honorary sibling?”

“Ye-es.” Jade’s stomach tightened in a mixture of fear, nerves, giddiness—and lust. The way he licked his lips made her pussy leak.

“Hm. Maybe we should discuss that in private.”

Jade slid easily under his arm. When she had faced large clients in the past, the overwhelming concern was that they might snap and injure her, or injure her simply through lack of awareness. With Ardol, his presence was comforting and protective. A living, furry shield.

“I’ve been waiting for another ‘private discussion’ since this morning,” she whispered.

Once inside the elevator, she pressed into Ardol’s chest, kissing him with a hunger she’d never felt.

I missed him today. Do I say that?

“I missed you today.” Ardol put his hands on her hips, letting her feel (whether on accident or on purpose) his hard bulge.

“I can tell.”

“I missed holding you and seeing you. The other things are wonderful, but they aren’t why I lo— love being with you.” He swallowed suddenly, and the doors opened to B Deck. “Come on. Bed? Oh, I bet we could find a satellite frequency that has shows from one of our systems. Have you ever seen My Three Wives? It was my favorite show growing up.”

“I never heard of it, but I’ll watch it with you.” Jade stepped out of the elevator, still holding onto his arm.

Now who’s clingy? Me. And he’s into it.

Ardol’s purr filled the passage as they sauntered to their quarters. “You know... It’s actually not that funny now that I think of it. There were three wives, and they were always getting into crazy messes trying to impress the husband so he would show one of them more attention or affection. When I was a kid, it was so funny, just for the sheer physical comedy of it... And now that I’m thinking about it—it’s sad.”

“Sad?”

“I know it was just a show, but I wonder if there are families like that. I wonder if my mother was like that—desperate for my father’s attention. If the shoe were on the other paw, if the show’s premise was multiple husbands desperate to keep their wife’s attention, desperate to know who was loved best, it would be a horror movie, not a comedy. A tragedy.”

“Leopardine guys don’t like to share, but they expect their wives to deal with it? Double standard.”

“I know.” Ardol’s purr stopped, and his face was grave as he stepped out of his boots and placed them by the door.

“You know what I like?” Jade slid her shoes off as well and waited for him to turn back to her.

“What?”

“That we’re not like that.” She reached for his paw and let her free hand find his cheek. “I don’t have to fight to keep your love. Do I?”

“No! You have my love. Already.”

“Well.” She swallowed, weighing the struggle to keep words in versus the heavy-duty overthinking she would do if the words escaped her lips. “My love is yours and only yours. You never have to share me, and I never want to share you. I’ve decided I’m suddenly very into clingy, possessive dudes with spots.”

Ardol laughed and left a kiss on her cheek, muzzle snuffling into her neck in the place that made her giggle first and moan second. “And I’m into short, furless Queens—with spots.” He tapped the smattering of freckles at her neckline. “Can we go be possessive in a reclining position?”

“Yes, please.”

ARDOL WATCHED HER MOVING toward the bed, his throat tighter with each step. What is this fresh, wonderful torture?

“Like my outfit?” Jade emerged from the bathroom without a stitch of clothing, hair flowing down her back, fiery waves matching the coarser curls over her sex.

He nodded so hard that he was afraid his spine would snap.

“You’re overdressed.” Jade slid easily under the sheets and reached for the belt of his robe. “Take this off.”
