I almost came right then and there imagining him pumping inside of me as I rode on top. He’d pretend to give me control, only to use his strength to thrust inside of me, making me bounce on top of him.

“Damn.” Landers took in a deep breath. “I can smell how much you want me. Is this what being a dragon and a rider is about.” He pressed against me, turning us so I was against the wall, his nose buried in my hair. “Feels like all of the world is in my lungs, ready to be released. Fucking addicting.”

“Feels like flying,” I whispered as I reached up and touched his hair. It was silky and just long enough to show some curls, the sides shorter than his top. Landers made a low deep sound that resonated from his chest, and it only spurred me on to touch him more. His eyes were closed as I dropped my hands down to his shoulder, feeling the hardness of the scales that covered them.

“Careful, Rayna,” he warned, just as something hard and wide bounced against my belly.

“Or what?” I asked, feeling a little daring as his cock twitched again.

He pressed his lips to my ear and whispered, “I’m more than happy to take you right here, right now.”

“That’s not a threat,” I said, turning so our lips were only inches away. I explored more of his body, working my way toward his wings. The moment I brushed against them, he groaned, pressing his forehead against mine.

I bit my lip hard, trying to hold back my own reaction. I was ready to just spread my legs and let him fuck me into oblivion. My body demanded it and there was little sanity left in me.

I wanted him. Why couldn’t I have him? For the life of me, I could find an answer. So, I did what I wanted to do and touched him more.

“Rayna.” Landers warned, nipping at my neck as my fingers ran over his wings.

That simple little contact between us felt like all the stars in the world within me were exploding light firecrackers. My awareness of him became so deep that I felt each particle of breath that was drawn into his lung like they were my own. I was getting exactly what I craved. Exactly what I needed.

I wanted more. Demanded more. His lips were so close. All I had to do was lean closer, letting our lips touch, closing that small gap, but filling so much of the emptiness that had lain on me since I had awoken as a rider, but here was my chance to fill that with exactly what I needed.

“If you enjoy breathing, I suggest you step away from my daughter.”

Oh shit. Oh double goddess fucking shit.

Ice cold water dumped over me, the scorching fire that had been running through me instantly dying out.

My dad stood at the end of the hall, looking like he was going to breathe fire more than the dragon did. He stomped over, shoving himself between me and Landers.

Having him between us wasn’t only a physical shield but also a mental one. It was like the connection between us got completely severed, and frankly it hurt. It hurt a lot. I grimaced, rubbing at my chest, trying to relieve the discomfort there.

“It’s best you get away from us,” Da said in a dangerously low voice, glaring hard at Landers. Da was a tall man, but dragons were still so much bigger, so I could still see Landers over his shoulder.

Anyone else would have backed down seeing Da so upset, but Landers only looked amused.

“You’re asking a dragon to step away from a rider?” Landers asked in a chilled voice that sent shivers down my spine.

“She isn’t yours.”

Landers shrugged, moving away from us, but still facing us. He tilted his head to the side, looking at me.

“We’ll see. We’re both going to the same place. I’ll get my claws into her eventually. Just look at her. She wants me to.” His sex voice was back and it took all my strength to keep my knees from buckling and me standing straight.

“Leave.” Da was furious, and thankfully Landers didn’t fight him. He laughed, giving us a wave as he disappeared down the stairs.

Dad grabbed my arm and yanked me back into our room.

“Get to bed,” Da barked, slamming and locking the door behind us. “We’re leaving early in the morning.”

“Will we go with the dragons?” I asked nonsensically, after what I just witnessed there was no way. But after being so close to a dragon I was having trouble thinking straight.

“No!” He yanked his own cloak off and chucked it hard at his bed. “We’ll leave before them.”

“Why? That doesn’t make any sense. Aren’t we all going to the same place?” More nonsense arguing, coming right up.

“You cannot be around the dragons until you’re with your mate.” His eyes were dark, his face hard as he spoke to me, and then to my hair.
