“Senator Cosa, Welcome. Please come in.” I greet him, opening the door to the warehouse office. He nods at me and steps inside.

Albert arranged this meeting today under the guise of needing further clarification on the wedding plans.

The good Senator was all too eager to show up. I’ll be curious to see if he mentions Jimmy Jr. at all.

Nico and I made sure to set it up so it looked like Jimmy Jr. was off having a blast using Daddy’s credit cards in Mexico for the next week to throw Jimmy Sr. off the trail.

The purpose of this meeting is simple: expose the betrayal. Honestly, I’m impressed Albert is going through the motions of a normal meeting.

They talk about business lines and networking. They review a lengthy looking contract, arguing over whether property should be included in the prenup for Christina.

“What good is any of this if I’m not going to know the details of the family’s revenue sources and contracts? How will I get the information I need to know about the business? They are getting married, that makes us family now.” He spits the words at us with hatred.

“Not yet, we aren’t.” All eyes are on Nico as Cosa stares him down.

I keep my hands ready just in case I need to react.

“Have your daughter prepared for the wedding ceremony.” Cosa orders.

“Nico, speak, talk to him,” Albert says, crossing his arms against his chest.

“Have your…” there’s a sinister flash to his eyes, “…sister,” his lips curl around the word maliciously, “prepared for the wedding.”

He takes a step towards the door.

“In fact, pack her bags while you’re at it. I don’t think I like the idea of her living beneath your roof any longer. We don’t want spoiled goods.”

I push back from the table but it’s too late.

Nico actually growls, making Cosa stop in his tracks.

He rolls his eyes and steps closer to Nico.

“There’s plenty of fish in the sea, man. Plenty of whores too. Go get one if you’re so hard up that you want to steal Jimmy’s bride.”

“It’s in your best interest to shut up,” Nico advises.

Cosa’s eyes narrow, and he looks to Albert, who holds up his hands as if to say, Nico is in charge now.

I smirk.

“Maybe I should take a go at her too,” Cosa continues, “Find out what all the fuss is about, hmm?”

Two shots are in Cosa’s head before I can even stand.

Some of the blood splatters on Nico, who wipes it off with a grin.

I groan. “That wasn’t the plan.” I shoot a disapproving look at Nico.

“New plan,” he says, slipping his gun away.

“Good job, son,” Albert says, clapping him on the back. “I’m proud of you.” He turns to me.

“Both of you. Well done.”

I nod. With both Cosas dead and the Cossi spy dead too – I should be feeling good, I’m starting to breathe again, but there are still so many more questions we don’t have answers to.
