“Not that I know of. I didn’t think the hunters were really my enemies either until this. Kayden said he wanted to help. I feel stupid for believing him.” I was pissed. It was good that bastard wolf wasn’t here, or I would show him how I felt about being lied to and used. We’d fought in the past, but nothing like what was coming his way the second I found him.

“Okay, so I’m not usually the one to talk anyone out of violence, but I don’t think going after him is a good idea.” Vik’s brown eyes had softened at my anger. “Besides, I think I have a better one. Let’s get the others and discuss it.”

“How did you know what I was thinking?” Vik’s laugh echoed in the garage. He walked around the SUV and put his arm around my shoulders, turning me back toward the entrance.

“It’s written all over your face. I have to be honest; I would never have thought you had it in you. I think I might like you after all.” We walked together back into the living area and sat down on the couch. I assumed that we were waiting for Eli to make up with Delilah to discuss Vik’s idea about how to handle the tracker.

Chapter 46

Eli

My heart jumped when Declan ordered me to make up with Delilah. For a moment, I thought he was going to attack me. I wasn’t in the mood to fight anyone, especially after what we’d found on the car. Vik and I did a routine check and discovered someone had put a tracker in the engine compartment. We discussed how to handle it when Dec had come in making demands. He wasn’t wrong. I did mess up, and I needed to fix it as quickly as possible. I wasn’t keeping secrets and didn’t want Delilah to believe that I was.

I tapped on her door gently. I waited a moment, then opened it and poked my head inside. “Delilah? I just want to talk.” I scanned the room but didn’t see her anywhere. I took a deep breath and walked in, carefully closing the door behind me. I paced the room, looking for her. Where had she gone? I looked under the bed—nothing. It was clear that she wasn’t in here. If she wasn’t in her bathroom, then she had to have gone somewhere else.

Panic rose in my throat as my imagination took over. There were only so many places she could be. Was it possible for someone to have made it in here right under our noses? Could they have taken her? I would never forgive myself for letting anything happen to her. I headed toward the bathroom door, creeping slowly. I didn’t want them to know I was coming for them if someone was here. I opened the door slowly, waiting for someone to attack. The bathroom was as empty as the bedroom. I turned and walked back into the bedroom, dropping to the bed. I needed to get my thoughts together and search the rest of the bunker for her before I alerted the guys.

Before standing up, I was tackled and thrown to the floor. I pushed up with my hands, but I was pinned, and instead of trying to see who had me, I simply fought back. I tossed the attacker off my back and tried to stand up. Once again, I was thrown to the floor and someone was on top of me. I tried to buck them off, but I was flipped over onto my back. Then I finally got a good look at the person who’d attacked me. Delilah was grinning from ear to ear, sitting on my chest.

“See? I can take care of myself.” She looked so triumphant that I couldn’t argue. I stared at her while I caught my breath. Her laugh made my heart smile.

“I can’t believe you overpowered me. That’s awesome.” I grinned back at her, proud that she was able to defend herself.

“Well, I am still mad at you. You’re lucky that all I did was pin you down. I could have kicked your ass.” We both knew that was a stretch, but I didn’t correct her. I was trying to make up, not get a bigger fight started.

“That’s why I’m here. I owe you an apology. A big one. I should have just told you that I needed to talk to Vik. I was worried that you wouldn’t let us talk in private. I had a hunch and didn’t want to say anything in front of Dec until I knew for sure.” I explained.

“Wait, you wanted me to take him out of the room? Not the other way around?” Her eyes went wide at the realization. I nodded, hoping that she wouldn’t tell him about this.

“I suspected that Kayden had somehow tracked us here. His showing up was too easy. There’s no way he would have found us from a three-minute phone call. But I didn’t want to upset Dec about his best friend betraying him if it wasn’t true. And I couldn’t exactly say any of that in front of him.”

Delilah leaned forward and captured my lips with hers. I got caught up in the passion of the kiss and nearly forgot that we all needed to talk about the tracker. My mind emptied as she rubbed herself up and down my body until my dick stood at attention. I wanted to rip her clothes off and fuck her. “Wait. I want to, but we can’t do this right now.” I groaned at my own words. I never thought I’d be cockblocking myself, but here I was. Delilah’s face fell. Her look of disappointment hurt me.

“And just why not?” She sat up and put her hands on her hips, suddenly angry again. I held up my hands in surrender.

“We need a family meeting. There are some things we have to work out about the supply run. I promise you can ravish me later. For now, we need to talk to Vik and Dec. This is something we need to all decide together.” I scooped her up in my arms and stood up. She was still pouting but didn’t look like she wanted to choke me anymore. Although, that might have been kind of kinky. I’d hold onto that thought until later.

I carried her out to the living area to find Dec and Vik waiting for us. “We thought you guys were in there boning. We’ve been waiting a while.” Vik accused.

“Yeah, well, we weren’t. But we were making up. So let’s move on to what we need to talk about.” I replied, dropping onto a chair with Delilah still wrapped around me. She slid around to face the others.

“Okay, Vik, let’s hear this plan of yours.” Dec sounded defeated. It was clear that the betrayal from his friend had hurt him. I didn’t complain when Delilah climbed off my lap to sit on his. He needed some affection.

“I think we should use the tracker to throw them off. We get Scott to meet us somewhere while we’re out, and we trade vehicles. I have an SUV parked in Eli’s garage. He can bring that. We can have him check it to ensure it’s not bugged first. Then he drives the tracker around, and they can follow him.” Vik sounded impressed with his idea.

“But Kayden knows where we’re staying.” I countered.

“That’s why we’ll go somewhere else. We’ll pack up and take our stuff with us, then Scott can even come back here and stay for a while to throw them off. They’ll think we made a supply run, then came back. It’ll take them a while to figure it out.” He replied.

“Where will we go?” Delilah asked, stroking her fingers through Dec’s messy curls. He looked as if he was finally relaxing a little.

“That’s a good question. I’m not sure.” Finally, something he didn’t have an answer to. It was about time.

“We could go back to my condo. I mean, if Scott is going to be here throwing them off, it could work. We get them distracted until we get inside. They can’t get to us in my home. Everything is state-of-the-art tech there. But only if we all agree.” I offered. I didn’t want to force anyone into something they didn’t want. Delilah seemed excited, while Dec and Vik looked slightly annoyed.
