I knew that Eli was hiding something when he turned down sex. I could have pushed the issue but decided to wait and see what was happening. I was surprised when he handed me four phones and the cases, telling me to decide who got what. I pretended like it would be a difficult decision, but the colors were pretty much chosen to fit personalities. Vik’s case was black, Eli’s was blue, Dec’s was green, and mine was red. Then it was just a matter of putting a phone into a case and inputting the numbers. I figured there was a way to do it faster. It seemed pretty important to Eli that I sit here and work on it while he moved away and looked at news articles on the computer.

I waited until he wasn’t paying attention and started reading over his shoulder. Every time he moved, I made sure I appeared to be working on his request. Of course, I had that done in five minutes, but he didn’t need to know that.

I guessed it was good that the police had no leads on the girl I’d drained. They were calling it suspicious. Then Eli switched to another news site that seemed to be geared toward vampires. I had no idea that existed. The hunters were looking for leads in the murder of a human. That can’t be good. I would have to ask the guys about the hunters later. Maybe turning myself in wouldn’t be so bad. I would probably ask Dec because I didn’t want Eli to know that I’d been snooping. I wondered if Eli would trade our after-dinner time with him so I could find out tonight.

Ultimately, who I spent time with was my decision. I knew that I could just say that I wanted to hang out with Declan instead of Eli, but I didn’t want to foster any sense of competition in my guys. Vik had enough of that for everyone. I needed to figure out how to get that out of him. He needed to understand that we’re a family. Everyone needed to do their part so we could be happy.

“Eli?” I said his name softly to get his attention. When he looked up, I continued. “Would you be upset if I spent time with Declan tonight? He’s had a rough day, and I wanted to make it up to him. Vik was a complete ass, and I still ended up having sex with him. Don’t get me wrong, it was great; I just feel bad about how he acted toward Dec.”

“Oh. Um, sure. I don’t mind. I get that you want him to feel accepted. Don’t worry about it. I have some work stuff to do anyway.” His smile didn’t quite reach his eyes, and I felt awful. But I need this information, and he won’t tell me. I’d just have to make it up to him later.

“Thanks. You’re the best!” I gave him a big kiss. Then I picked up his phone and handed it to him. “This one is yours. I’m going to give the others theirs now.” I pocketed my phone and grabbed the other two, strolling off toward the expansive kitchen to see what Vik and Dec were getting into. I heard their voices and stopped to listen for a minute.

“All I’m saying is that sucker-punching me doesn’t make you look good to her. She doesn’t like that kind of douchebag behavior. I appreciate the apology and the offer to train me, but I’m good. If she hadn’t stepped in, you might realize that I can defend myself just fine.” Declan sounded like he was getting pissed. Oh, no. This isn’t good.

I rushed into the room, expecting to break up a fight. Instead, they were having a drink while the oven timer was counting down. Neither of them looked angry. It was just a heated conversation. I breathed a sigh of relief. At least there wasn’t going to be another fight. I couldn’t take that right now. “I have your new phones. Eli says they’re untraceable. Can you guess which is which?” I smirked at them, convinced that they’d never be able to crack my system.

“Obviously, the green is mine, and the black is for Satan over here,” Declan said with a mischievous grin.

“Your leprechaun is right, though I hate to admit it. Green suits him, and black is my color.” What was happening right now? Vik agreed with Declan. This was crazy.

“Okay, you got me. Then tell me what color Eli’s is. And what about mine?” I figured I’d have them on this one.

Vik looked at Dec, then back at me. “Yours is red, of course, and Eli’s has to be blue.”

“How did you know?” I asked, impressed that he’d figured me out so quickly.

“I could lie and say that I just knew, but I saw the cases as they were being put away, and those colors seem to explain themselves,” Vik said, staring at me. Declan nodded in agreement.

“Fine, you win. Here.” I handed them the phones. Vik opened his and started typing. “Can I borrow Dec for a minute?” Vik nodded without looking up. I grabbed Dec’s arm and dragged him out of the room.

“What’s wrong?” He asked as soon as we were out of earshot. “Did one of them do something? Do you need me to hurt them?”

I shook my head, laughing. “No, I wanted to see if you would spend time with me tonight after dinner.”

“I thought Eli had claimed that time.” He responded without looking at me.

“Well, the three of you said it’s my choice. I think you need a little extra attention right now. So, Eli was willing to trade for tomorrow night. Unless you don’t want to spend time with me…,” I dropped the sentence as if I’d had more to say. I knew exactly how to wrap these guys around my little finger. I wondered if I’d been the same person before. I suspected not.

Instead of answering, he leaned down and pressed his lips to mine. As he deepened the kiss, he grabbed my ass and picked me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist and enjoyed the strong arms holding me. I needed this as much as he did. I had no idea how long we were there like that. Someone cleared their throat behind me, and Declan groaned.

“Sorry to interrupt, but dinner is ready.” Vik didn’t sound happy to have found us in this position. I didn’t care much. I was certain that Eli and Dec hadn’t liked coming home to hear us going at it earlier either.

“We’ll be right there,” I responded without moving. I pressed my lips to Dec’s again and slid down him while we kissed. “We can pick this up later. I’m starved.” The look on his face told me he wasn’t sure I was talking about food. To be honest, I was hungry and needed more blood. But more than that, I craved time with him. I wanted him to know that he was mine, and it didn’t matter who else I claimed. I would always have time for my guys when they needed me.

“Maybe we should work out a schedule, so it’s easier on you.” He offered after Vik walked away. I thought about his words while we walked to the dining area I hadn’t noticed before. The table would seat six and was set with some beautiful plates.

“Something smells amazing,” Eli said as he walked in behind us. I wasn’t sure if he was talking about the food or me.

“It’s nothing fancy. The new guy wanted comfort food for some reason.” Vik growled.

“There’s nothing wrong with a roast with potatoes and carrots. Comfort food is perfect for what we’re dealing with right now.” Declan defended his choice.

Chapter 32

Declan

“I think it’s lovely,” Delilah offered, shutting Vik up before he could complain again. I knew that he would have preferred a five-star meal prepared by a fancy chef, but that wasn’t what our girl needed tonight. Most vampires could survive on blood only, but eating food kept the humans from figuring us out, and it still tasted good, so what did it matter?
