“Victor...”

“Yes?”

“You’re an incredible man.”

“And you’re a beautiful woman.”

“Thank you.”

“I want you to be my girlfriend,” he blurts.

I’m in disbelief.

“What?”

“I want you to be my girlfriend, Josie. My real one this time. Not a fake.”

“You’re not thinking... there’s a lot to consider...”

“There’s nothing to consider, Josie,” Victor replies. “I want you to be my girlfriend. What do you say?”

“Yes. Of course.”

The man pulls me in tighter.

“That’s all I’ve ever needed to hear,” he whispers. “I feel like I’ve won that award all over again.”

“Australia is pretty far away, correct?” I ask the actor.

“Yes,” he replies.

“Well, we’ll need to do something to pass the time.”

“What do you suggest?” he asks, curious.

I smile cheekily and look up into my new, real boyfriend’s very blue eyes.

“How about we watch a movie? One of yours, perhaps?”

EPILOGUE

TWO YEARS LATER

JOSIE

It was a struggle, but it finally happened.

I’m pregnant.

With Victor’s baby.

It was the happiest moment of our life together when we found out - we’d been trying for months and months and had practically given up hope of it ever happening, but then we got the results. And it was like a miracle.

We’re so happy...

Victor didn’t want me to stay in America during my pregnancy - he didn’t like the idea of the press gathering outside our place in Crystal River or LA, ready to catch me in a moment of vulnerability. We thought long and hard about where to go, but there turned out to be only one place where we knew we had to go.

The villa by the lake in Italy.
