“Wait, I need a limit,” I told him as he stood from the side of the bed to walk away. “You can’t send me to shopping capitals with Selena and tell me there’s no limit.”

Chandler licked his lips and smiled before giving me a kiss. “Did you forget who your man is? I said… no limit.”

I didn’t need to hear another word! Briskly, I climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Lord, this was going to be fun.

It was my turn to host our crew. I didn’t plan to cook or clean, which allowed me to be full of energy to host the gathering when everyone arrived. Laguna, the private chef, created the perfect mix of party foods to keep everyone satisfied. Jax and Mia had come through, providing the wine and whiskey. Dru had brought enough weed and gummies for anyone who wanted to indulge, and I was too tickled at the sight of him and Selena in a corner in their own world. All in all, we’d had a great turnout.

“Hey, love,” Amy said, taking my hands into hers. “I’m gonna go ahead and head out.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah. The babies act like they can’t go to sleep unless I tuck them in.”

“Aww, okay! I’ll see you in the office Monday.”

“See you then.”

We hugged briefly before she headed out, allowing me to return to the beautiful view of the city. Rose Valley Hills was the perfect environment to me. It was nestled between the bigger city Memphis and small-town Jasper Lane. With its beach, arts district, and lively downtown area, The Hills had quickly become an escape for those seeking a fun getaway. Most of our population was Black, and we had a lot of wealth circulating. There was also the secret society, but since Papa decided not to be a part of it, I never cared enough to learn too much about that.

Chandler made his way next to me. His eyes were red and low from the weed he’d ingested. He didn’t smoke often, but when he did, I was in for the slowest, most mind-blowing night of lovemaking in my life. It made him even nastier too.

“I’m staying here tonight,” he said, laying his head on my shoulder.

Massaging his beard, I nodded my agreement. “I figured you’d say that. That’s why I didn’t pack a bag to go back home with you.”

“I’m cool with us going back and forth since we live so close, but the back and forth is getting played out.”

“What are you saying?”

He lifted his head to look at me. “I’m saying, I don’t care whose penthouse it is, I want us to live together.”

“You don’t think it’s too soon?”

“Not at all. We literally sleep together every night. What’s the difference?”

Running my fingers through my hair, I looked out into the night sky. “I guess there isn’t much of one. That would just… be another big step.”

Chandler took my hand into his. “One that we don’t have to take if you’re not ready. I can wait until you are.”

I considered his words. I didn’t mind moving in with him, because he was right; we had been spending every night together since we came back from Sri Lanka. At this point, we had closets at each other’s penthouses. The only difference was we still had our own spaces to go to, if and when we wanted, and I wasn’t sure I was ready to give that up just yet.

“I did want to stay in RV Heights originally, but I think I want us to still keep both.”

“What did you have in mind? Subleasing one?”

My head shook. “I want us to still keep it for ourselves. With how you have yours set up, I can admit it’s more equipped for fun and entertaining, but mine is warmer and homier. I feel more comfortable and at peace here. So maybe we could simply redecorate both and repurpose one.”

“I see and like where you’re going with this. It will also allow us to entertain without having people in our space two or three weekends out of the month.”

“Exactly.”

“Since mine is already set up with the game room and stuff, we can make that where we go to have fun and entertain. When you’re ready, I’ll move in here and start paying the bills. I meant it when I said I was going to take over with that.”
