By the time we made it back to my penthouse, Chandler was seemingly coming down from his high of meeting the Port Green, in his words. I was happy that my two favorite guys hit it off and were like two peas in a pod.

“I’m gonna walk you up, then I need to head to my place to get some files. How do you want to do our sleeping arrangements tonight?” he asked.

With a shrug, I leaned against the elevator wall. “Doesn’t matter.”

His head tilted as he looked from my toes to the top of my head. “Come here, Cheyanne.”

I took slow, small steps in his direction as he hit the button to stop the elevator. “Yes?” His arms wrapped around me.

“Thank you for trusting me enough to introduce me to your grandfather. I think we’re going to have a great relationship, but I want to remind you that I’m not with you for him; I’m with you for you.” I nodded, head bowing briefly. His fingers on my chin lifted it. “The only time I see you dim your light is when it comes to your past. I made a joke earlier that I probably shouldn’t have.”

“What was that?”

“That I loved you, but I loved him more.”

We shared a quiet chuckle before I nibbled on my cheek. “Yeah, I knew you were just playing, but it kind of did sting. That was a me thing, though, so I wasn’t going to mention it.”

“I was joking when I said I loved him more.” He paused, placing a sweet kiss to my lips. “I’ve never loved anyone more than I love you.”

His statement caught me so off guard my exhale was vocal as I gripped his forearms.

“Wait, what?”

“I’m in love with you. I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. I’ve been single since we met because when you came into my life, there was only room in my heart for you. So… yes, I have admired your grandfather for his business tactics and ethics, but he changes nothing when it comes to you for me. I’m with you because of you, and I am so happy and in love with you.”

The pads of his thumbs wiped away my tears. We were so in sync it was scary. Just this morning, I questioned if it was too soon for me to feel the way I did, but he was right—this wasn’t new. This had been brewing since the day we met.

“I’m in love with you too. Thank you for saying this, babe. I can’t tell you how much I needed to hear all of it.”

“I have no problem reminding you that I’m with you for you, but I plan on showing you every day with my actions, for as long as you’ll let me.”

He had no idea. Now that I knew I was safe with him and that my grandfather approved, he wouldn’t ever be able to get rid of me.

Cheyanne released a breathy squeak as I wrapped my arms around her and carried her to my office. Pressing her against the door, I locked it, then kissed her until I felt lightheaded. As I stared down at her, I watched her come down from the clouds of our kiss. Her eyes fluttered open as she licked her lips.

“I saw your bags in your office. Good girl.”

She smiled and toyed with the button on my shirt. “I’ve been looking forward to spending the night at your place since the night before last. It’s more fun than mine.”

I smiled before kissing her again. Her penthouse was modern, an aesthetic, artsy and relaxing. Mine had been a true bachelor pad. I’d turned my free rooms into a game room, music themed lounge, and cinema room for entertaining. There was no home office since I was strict about not taking work home. On the off chance I needed to do something after hours, the office wasn’t too far away.

“Babe,” she cooed against my lips, “we really shouldn’t be doing this at work.”

“Who’s going to stop us? I’m the fucking boss.”

I kissed away her moan as her hands lifted to my neck. “But HR…”

“They only need to be notified. We have a meeting with them in fifteen minutes.”

“So you just thought of everything, huh?”

“When it comes to you, I leave no stone unturned.”
