He just stares back at me. “Yes…”

“And you’re giving me a lube job.”

“Jesus Christ,” he mutters, turning away from me to remove the now gross, filled bucket.

“I can’t believe I’ve never thought to make this joke before. Oh my god.” I run my fingers through my hair and blow out a breath. “I’m so disappointed in myself.”

Tim laughs from his bay. “Luca, you need to come visit more often.”

“No,” Ty says, shaking his head at Tim. “He doesn’t.”

“Hm.” I nod. “Yes. Yes, I think I will.”

Jake chuckles as he wipes his hands and leans against the wall. “So, back in the gym yet?”

“Today,” I say with a nod. “I would have preferred to take more than three days off after almost breaking my face, but as I’m sure you know, Ty is a bit uptight.”

Ty shoots me a look and I just smile back at him. He doesn’t know this yet, but Rosa wants to do yoga with us today. And I agreed. For both of us.

“Hope you’re not planning on taking any more hits to that face any time soon,” Tim says as he looks over at me. “Ty said you took some nasty hits, but damn… that looks like it fucking hurts.”

“It looks worse than it is,” I say, picking up one of Ty’s screwdrivers and twirling it in my hand. His eyes land on it, and I chuckle as he tries to pretend like it’s not eating away at him that I’m touching his shit.

“And how does that go, working with kids? Does your work have an issue with…” Jake waves a hand in the air, gesturing to the entirety of my face, “this?”

I laugh and try not to wince against the pain from the cut in my lip. “My previous school in Warsaw hated it, but this one is actually really good about it.” I watch as Ty pulls something out of my Jeep that looks like a cylinder with folded up cloth in it. The fuck is that? But I shrug it off and continue. “The kids are interested in hearing about it, and they know it’s a sport that they will not be doing.” I chuckle. “I’m sure some parents may have an issue with it but… kids don’t judge, and that’s pretty fucking cool.”

Jake smiles with a nod. “That’s awesome.”

My phone buzzes in my pocket and I sigh, pulling it out as Jake and Tim get back to work. It’s probably my parents sending a text, since they’re going to be here in a few days and we still haven’t spoken. The last I heard from them was my dad’s text that fueled my rage outburst on Ty. Which actually cured him so… in a way that text was helpful? That’s a confusing feeling…

I unlock my screen, expecting a scolding text since I didn’t tell them about the fight and I think one of my sisters may have mentioned it to them. But I don’t have a text, it’s an email.

From Legacy Fighting Alliance.

“Holy shit.” I hop off the workbench, sending tools flying to the ground.

Ty whips around. “What the fuck–”

“Shhh.” I hold my hand up to quiet him as I keep looking down at my phone, scanning the email. Then I look up at him, eyes wide.

“What?” he asks, stepping closer.

“Check your email.”

“Why?” he asks, taking a rag off the bench to wipe his hands.

“Just fucking do it.”

Ty pulls his phone out of his pocket with a sigh and taps at it. I watch him, my heart racing as his eyes move over the screen. Then he looks up at me, with a shocked and hopeful expression.

“Are you in?”

I nod. “Yeah. Are you?”

“Yeah.” He nods as well.

“Oh my god.”
