“They ain’t stayin’ on for long, so don’t worry your head about them.” He smiled softly. “I only see you anyways.”
I sighed and felt the emotion rise in my chest. This man had made me feel more special in a couple of sentences than I had felt in years.
“I haven’t done this for ages, Dex.”
I swallowed and chewed on the inside of my cheek. I didn’t remember feeling this nervous my first time. I could recall the excitement, but the hammering heart and sweaty palms hadn’t really figured on that occasion.
“I know, darlin,” he said softly. Lifting my hand, Dex kissed it and then held it against his heart “Feel how that’s pumping so damn fast?”
I nodded. It really was, almost as rapidly as my own.
“That’s because this is important to me. You’re important to me and I wanna do this right darlin’. For you and for us.”
As I drew in a shaky breath, Dex’s arms went around my back and unclipped my bra. As my heavy, child-ravaged boobs fell against his chest, Dex groaned, and I felt his hard on bob against my stomach. I could feel he was turned on, but how I’d managed to do it was beyond me.
As he took a step back to look at me, I felt all my insecurities rushing to the forefront of my brain, as I laced one arm over my boobs and one over my stomach.
“Can we just get under the covers?” I asked, turning away from him.
“Don’t,” Dex said, placing a warm hand on my shoulder and pulling me back toward him. “Haven’t I just said, don’t ever hide yourself from me.”
My throat felt scratchy as I tried to beat back the emotion, but I was too scared and felt too vulnerable standing there in only my knickers.
“I don’t know why you’d want this with me,” I whispered. “You could have anyone.”
“I doubt that darlin’, besides which,” he replied, caressing my neck. “I want you.”
He looked as though he wanted me. His hard on was big and proud and there was a hunger in his eyes that I hadn’t seen, for me, for a long time. But when I looked at strong arms, a taught stomach and rippling abs, and compared his hard body to my soft and squidgy around the edges one, I had to wonder why he was here. Why was he standing in front of me looking desperate to get me on the bed and shag me into oblivion?
“You,” Dex said, taking hold of the arm wrapped across my stomach, “are so fucking beautiful. You’re a real woman, Katie. A real woman with a great heart, a gorgeous, addictive laugh, and the prettiest eyes I’ve ever seen. You have no idea how damn sexy you are, and in the odd times when you get it and see yourself how I see you, that confidence just notches that sexiness up like you wouldn’t believe.”
Leaning into me, Dex kissed the end of my nose and ran a hand through my hair.
“If you don’t want this, we can wait,” he whispered. “I’ll wait for you as long as it takes.”
God, if he ever gave up the tattoo business, Dex really needed to consider becoming a motivational speaker, that or a sex guru, teaching men how to seduce their women with words.
“Dex,” I whispered, dropping the arm across my boobs. “Please just get me on that bed before I either explode or chicken out and regret it for the rest of my life. But one thing you need to know.”
“What’s that?” he asked, a smile touching his lips.
“I’ve had three kids.” I glanced down. “It may not be as pretty as some you’re used to.”
Dex scrubbed a hand down his face and shook his head and then, before I knew what was happening, I was being lifted and thrown onto the bed, landing with a fit of giggles.
“I’ve decided,” Dex said, as he hovered over me, “we ain’t doing this all serious. Your first time with me is gonna be fun.”
“It is?” I asked, lifting my bum as he pulled down my knickers.
“Yep Katie Cat, it is.” He paused to throw them to one side. “But, every time after that is going to be hot, hard, and damn serious.
He leaned in to take my mouth with his, kissing me until I was gasping for breath.
