“Does it matter?” I asked, throwing his words back in his face. “What difference does it make, Aurelio? Why do you care?”

“I told you already,” he said, taking another step towards me, my back finally hitting the banister to the stairway. “I’m curious.”

“That’s not a good enough reason,” I said, my heart thrumming in my chest painfully. “I’m not here to entertain you.”

“No, I don’t suppose that you are,” he said quietly as his hand reached up to circle around the side of my neck, causing an eruption of tears that were part anger and part shame.

“Get your hands off me,” I ordered, though my voice sounded weak to my ears.

“No,” he replied. “No, I don’t think that I will.”

Chapter 15

Aurelio~

Savina Valentine was both my Heaven and my Hell, and I wasn’t sure which one was worse. I knew that I shouldn’t be touching her, but I didn’t come all this way to walk away with nothing.

“Get your hands off me,” she repeated, her back straightening, though her five-foot-three was no match for my six-foot-three.

“See, now I’m even more curious,” I said as I leaned in closer. “Those stunning blue eyes are shooting fire at me, ready to fight. However, there’s no such fire in your eyes when the congressman’s son has his hands on you.” I ran my thumb across her jaw. “No. In the very clear home videos that we were able to acquire, you cower before him beautifully, not a defiant bone in your body. Now, why is that?”

“Go to hell,” she choked out.

“Oh, baby, I’m already there,” I informed her coldly. “You ought to know that better than anyone else.”

“Why are you doing this?” she hissed, tears spilling down her face, most likely from anger.

I tightened my hand around her neck, despising her like I’d never thought possible. Not only was she letting that sonofabitch fuck her, but she was letting him misuse her, and all for his last name and his father’s ambitions. The woman that I’d been in love with didn’t exist anymore, and that knowledge felt like my chest was cracking in two.

“Or is it that you’re only brave against people that you know won’t ever hurt you?” I taunted, my hurt and anger needing to go somewhere. “Are you only tough when there’s no real threat, but fold like a coward when the danger is very real?”

Savina pushed at my chest. “You don’t know shit!” she yelled, and her anger had my dick hard because I had no use for weak women. In fact, I had no use for weak men, either. That’s probably why I stayed away from people as much as I could.

“Then tell me,” I said, keeping my voice deceptively calm.

This time, her purse and briefcase dropped from her hands, and she used that freedom to push against me harder, trying desperately to make me budge, though it was useless. If I didn’t want to be moved, then I wouldn’t be.

“Get out!” she screamed. “Get out!”

I finally grabbed her hands, then trapped them between our bodies. “Not until you tell me why in the fuck you’re letting Ashton Oliver beat the hell out of you,” I snarled down at her, my anger finally shining through.

She stubbornly remained silent, her lip curling like she was disgusted with the mere thought of me being near her, and three years of rage, rejection, and pain all came bubbling up to the surface. Her relationship with Ashton Oliver was my worst nightmare come true, and she didn’t even care enough to explain any of it to me. Had he treated her well, I would have done my best to live in denial and let her be happy. However, that wasn’t the case, and she’d rather endure whatever the fuck they were doing than tell me the truth.

Holding her wrists in my left hand, I reached underneath her skirt with my right. “Tell me, Savina,” I purred. “Do you let him cum inside you?”

Her entire frame deflated. “Don’t do this, Aurelio.” Her voice sounded weak, upping my anger with her even more.

When my fingers found the gusset of her panties, Savina closed her eyes. “Does he?”

“No,” she choked out quietly. “It…it wouldn’t look good if I got pregnant before marriage.”

“Open your fucking eyes,” I ordered as my fingers slid inside the delicate lace that covered nothing.

Savina’s blue eyes popped open, and even though her mascara was running down her face from her earlier tears, she was still the most beautiful thing that I’d ever seen or ever will see. Whatever spell that she had cast on me all those years ago had been strong enough that I didn’t care that she belonged to another man right now. My brain was trying to convince me that Ashton Oliver didn’t matter because I’d had her first. Not only that, no matter her choices or reasons, the sonofabitch didn’t deserve her, or any woman for that matter.

Staring into Savina’s tear-stained eyes, I knew that I was going to kill Ashton Oliver, and it had nothing to do with her. He didn’t deserve to live, making the rest of it not matter.

Not able to stop myself, I slipped a finger inside the only pussy that had ever had the power to turn me stupid, as evident by what I was doing now. Savina’s head dropped back against the banister, but she didn’t close her eyes, nor did she tell me to stop.
