I’m faced with two really important and serious truths.

The first? I really do want to fuck Cutter Buckley (or, you know, have Cutter Buckley fuck me.)

The second?

I need him to fuck me really soon before I lose my mind.

Cutter

“What are you doing right now, Cutter?” Tony asks me as we speak on the phone call that’s only been five minutes, but it’s five minutes too long already.

“I’m standing on the deck with a drink in hand. Much needed to get through a conversation with you.”

“Exactly my point.”

“What, Tony? That you’re tough to talk to?”

“Cutter, you don’t need to be there anymore. I really thought the second I mentioned leaving you’d be driving. Drop everything you’re doing and run like hell out of there. What’s going on there? Are you feeling settled or what?”

“Settled?”

“Yeah. You found a place you want to call home? Talk to me, Cutter. I’m your agent. I’m in your corner all the way.”

“Did you find out who is blackmailing me this time?”

“Not yet. Have you received anything else?”

“No,” I say.

“Maybe it’s time to get it all out there. Tell everything. Clean out from under your bed, you know?”

“Tony…”

“Just hear me out, Cutter. Why work from a position like this? I can get some kind of exclusive interview set up for you. We’ll get national attention on it. It’ll paint you as the bad boy of baseball but with a heart.”

“I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that to me. I’m not some reality show pawn.” My phone vibrates in my hand. I pull my phone from my ear and see Piper has sent a text. Priority one, right there. “Tony, I’ve got to go. Appreciate the ambush though.”

“Just tell me what your plan is,” Tony yells. “I can help you make an offer on the house you’re in!”

I hang up the call and open the text from Piper.

Before I read it I catch myself looking around.

The house. The deck. The yard. It’s far too much for just one person. For me.

This house is meant for a family…

I read the text from Piper.

Change of plans…

There’s another gut punch reality for me. I’m not going to call this dating a single mom or put any title on this thing with Piper, but damn it’s tough when the plans constantly change. Makes sense though. Every decision she makes is not just for one person.

All of a sudden I’m the kind of guy who embraces a sense of humility…

No worries.
