"Good night?" I asked as I sliced some bananas onto the bread.

He nodded, but instead of going into details, he said, "Shiv is still here. Can you not be you?"

I controlled the chuckle that was threatening to come out. He had to be so sweet on Siobhan if he was worried about my big fat mouth embarrassing him.

Instead, I pointed my knife at him, "What's the game plan? We both know you can't cook, and I'm not much better. How do you plan to impress her?"

"Avocado toast and coffee. Well within my wheelhouse," he said with a cocky smile as he pulled out some of the bread that Natalie stocked from the bread bin.

Not a bad plan. Just to help him out, I grabbed one of the avocados out of the basket and sliced around the edge to cut it in half.

As I handed him the opened fruit, the tall blonde entered the room, dressed in the same white short shorts and teal jersey as last night. Her hair looked perfect instead of the sex hair. Despite the outfit, she wasn't your prototypical bunny. She was one of Natalie's clients, but I forgot what Siobhan did for her day-to-day life; I think it was in the entertainment business. I knew one thing for sure, she was almost too sweet for Carter. "Ooh boys, this looks great."

I was about to say something, but Carter gave me the look to shut the fuck up. So I let him do his thing with his girl. He asked, "Do you like smoked salmon?"

"I'll give it a try," she said with a sweet smile.

Since Carter didn't need my help anymore with making breakfast, I grabbed my completed plate. Siobhan said, "Don't go, Spence."

I stopped and raised my eyebrow. "What's up?"

"How would you feel about going on a double date with us?"

I looked at my best friend to see what he thought about this idea since he didn't want me to stick my foot in my mouth. He seemed to be caught off guard, much like me, and his facial expression didn’t give me a clue if I should say yes or no.

"Maybe. Depends on the girl."

That seemed like a safe answer.

Carter handed her the avocado toast that he just finished, adding some smoked salmon on the side and went over to my Nespresso machine and put a capsule into it. After putting my favorite mug under the spout, he turned it on. He pivoted toward Siobhan, "Now, I love my man, but he's not exactly the most dateable guy. What type of woman would you set him up with?"

When he said that, I moved my hands to my heart. "You wound me."

No one paid any attention to me, and Siobhan looked at her man. "Someone who is wicked smart, a little bit sassy and ambitious."

That didn't sound too terrible of a match. Hell, I knew a couple girls who could fit that definition, and I would want to date each and every one of them. Especially the one related to my roommate.

"Okay. I could work with that. But why not tell me the girl's name?"

Siobhan pulled out the most mischievous smile. "You gotta earn that."

Carter knew how much a line like that would fire me up. But he shot me that look that said he would kill me if I tried to do anything to earn the girl's name.

So, instead, I clapped Carter's shoulder. "Maybe this guy will earn the name for me."

Chapter 11

Spencer

Of course, Carmie didn’t earn the name for me. Instead, I’d waited the past three days to find out who they set me up on a date with.

Both Carmie and I strode up to the Fusion restaurant with a purpose. Siobhan and my date would be waiting for us since we got waylaid by a team meeting.

The closer we got to the date, the more I realized how much I hated blind dates. It meant that I had no game, and I didn't have a fucking clue who might be waiting for me.

As we walked into the restaurant, it was easy to spot Siobhan and my date.

While part of me wanted to proceed, I realized there was no way in hell we could go through with this. Not with Carter by my side.
