She hadn’t thought so at the time. She’d just done it on instinct, so perhaps it had been her body trying to protect her or something.

Whatever it had been . . . she was certain that Reuben wouldn’t be swayed from the path he’d decided on.

A sob broke through as her bottom really started to heat up. It was too much. Her legs were shaking. She couldn’t take any more.

“Please, Sir,” she begged. “No more. I’m sorry.”

“What are you sorry for?” he asked as he slapped the top of her thighs.

“I’m sorry that I ran off,” she managed to get out.

Yes! Good answer.

“Good girl,” he murmured as he gave her two more smacks. Both to her right cheek.

Oww.

“And what will you do next time?” he asked. Two more to her left cheek.

She rose up onto her tiptoes. “I’ll go straight to you.”

“You will. You will let Daddy protect you. It’s not up to you to decide how to keep yourself safe. That’s my job now.”

Tears were dripping down her face by this time. Her body was wound tight. At least he was going to stop now. Because she didn’t think she’d be sitting comfortably tomorrow.

“Ten more should do it.”

What?

“Nooo,” she moaned.

Slap! Slap!

“Do you get to use that word with me?”

She shook her head. “No, Sir.”

“That’s right. You’re getting ten more and you have to count them.”

This was so mean.

Slap!

“Three.”

“Um, baby. Hate to tell you, but when you count, you start with one.”

“But I already had two,” she pointed out, pleased with herself.

“Those two were for telling me no. And you got off lightly.”

Well . . . fudge it all.

That wasn’t cool.

Slap!

“One, two,” she called out.
