“The food is here,” he throws his head back against the back of the couch, and I fall onto his chest. I can’t explain why, but I just want him to hold me right now.

“Food is good,” I finally mumble when there’s a third knock at the door, this time more urgent.

With a heavy sigh, Zach picks me up without much effort and sets me next to him on the couch. He kisses the tip of my nose and pinches me in the side, making me jump and let out a startled yelp. That seems to break the incredible sexual tension cloaking us.

“We’re so going to do that again, right after I feed you.”

The grin breaking over my face makes me feel like I am floating. This is the best night ever, and I can’t wait to do that with him again. And more. So much more.

“Totally,” I nod.

CHAPTER 5

Clean sheets

Zach

I stare at the ceiling, remembering every single detail from what transpired last night with Hunter. The girl put a spell on me, I swear.

I ended up taking her home after we ate, even though I didn’t want to let her go. Her mother called her cell phone, and, from what I could gather, she chewed Hunter’s ass for being out so late. I was both mad at her for cutting our night short and grateful for her caring about her daughter enough to check on her.

“I thought you had a roommate,” I stated as soon as they hung up. “You said that your roommate had ditched you,” I reminded her of our conversation at the bar.

“Oh, Mattie is my roommate from back in New York. She is from here too, so we came home together,” she explained quickly, and I felt guilty for being suspicious of her motives all of a sudden.

“I need your phone number,” I mumbled to distract her from the tone of my voice, then I pulled a piece of paper and wrote my own number on it. “Here’s mine,” I handed her the paper.

The drive to her parents’ house was fairly short and uneventful. Her kissing me stupid right before exiting the car was definitely eventful, though.

Now I am lying in the bed in my apartment, staring at the ceiling and wondering what she is up to. It is the weekend, so I don’t have to work today and tomorrow. I am hoping to spend these two days with her. A lot.

I grab my phone and look up her name in my contacts. With zero hesitation, I press dial and wait.

“Zach,” I hear the smile in her voice and grin at the picture she makes in my head. “I was going to call you, too. I just wasn’t sure when it would be a good time…”

“Anytime you want to call me is a good time, Hunter,” I tell her in a firm voice. I want her and I am not afraid to show it.

“Oh, okay then,” she chuckles.

Neither one of us says anything after that, but the silence on the line is not awkward in the least.

“I was hoping to see you today,” I finally tell her the reason I was calling. “And tomorrow, too,” I hurry up to add.

“Wow, two days in a row,” she teases me.

“With a full night in between, I hope.”

The line goes dead, and I worry that I scared her off. I let out a sigh of relief when I hear her breathing in my ear.

“You mean it?”

“Fuck yeah, I mean it!” I am a ball of bursting energy when I jump out of bed as I say the words.

I start pacing in the small room, looking around and wishing I could offer her something better. Maybe I could rent a room at a fancy hotel, with a nice bed. A big bed. The one I have is full size, which is better than a twin I suppose. It never bothered me before. Then again, I’ve never made plans to take anyone’s virginity in it.

“When should I come there?” Hunter’s voice sounds hesitant now. Maybe the time and distance between us since last night gave her time to rethink her strategy on how to give her virginity away.

I blink at the word. I have never in my life said or thought in my head the word virginity as I have since meeting Hunter. And that was only last night.
