“You have a team here? Where do you play?”

“The original O’Donnell’s Pub, about an hour away.”

“Will they go easy on them?” I laugh.

“I have two daughters; I’ll go easy on them until they catch on and it upsets them.”

“Good call.” I tap the bar and step back. “Thank you, Abe. Six?”

“Six,” he agrees.

“Perfect. I’m gonna go get things ready.”

I see his facial expression get a little hard. “Gonna need something from you first. Have a seat, Roman.”

I don’t move as I look him over, wondering if this guy knows Center, if his daughters are friends with CeCe to keep tabs until he got paroled and could fuck her head up some more.

“Nah, I’m good right here, Abe.”

He sets the cloth and glass down. “I’m real glad you’re good, kid. Got a nice place, using your head by spending your money on shit that matters if this dream career of yours ends.”

I narrow my eyes. “You got something to say? Say it. Passive-aggressive shit doesn’t work on me, nor do threats.”

“Fine.” He walks to the bar opening and toward me. “I don’t fuck around, either. I especially don’t fuck around when it comes to my daughters, so imagine my surprise when I get a feeling she’s being followed.” He pushes up his sleeves. For an older dude, he’s got ripped biceps. Mine are bigger. “Then I talk to Franco, and he’s got a guy tailing the guy who is tailing his daughter.”

“That is a surprise.”

“Do not play stupid. Who are the two PI houseguests, and why the fuck do they have people following my daughter around?”

“Got a question of my own.”

“You get that I could end your career in a second, right?” he threatens.

“You get that I could end a lot of shit for you too?” I fire back.

We’re chest to chest now, neither backing down, eyeball to fucking eyeball, when someone whistles loudly. We both turn and look at the door as Amias, Justice, and Max Steel, Jase’s son, are walking in.

“The fuck’s going on, Uncle Abe?” Max asks.

He steps back. I don’t.

“Just having a little chat with Hart.”

“Yeah?” Amias forces a laugh. “Looked like a hell of a chat.”

“Change of plans. Fuck you,” I hiss quietly, take a step back, and turn to the door. “Here for lunch?”

“Yeah, man. Stick around?” Amias asks.

“Nah, I just stopped by to see if Fawna was around.” I walk past them then turn to face them all. “Heads-up, she’s not, but Uncle Abe is. Have fun with that.”

Outside, I grab my keys out of my pocket, hit the fob, and step out onto the street to get to my door when a white car comes out of nowhere.

“The fuck?” I yell as I get jacked backward. I pull away from whoever it is and turn.

Uncle Abe.

“Who the fuck was that?” he yells at me as he grabs the keys right out of my hand and starts toward the driver’s door. “Get in!”
