“Why do you have another room?” Every time Arianna switched to Mandarin, it was to say something sure to make Elle’s blood run hotter. “Do you think I’m going with you? I know I’m wearing a sweater, but I don’t make the best bed warmer.”

Elle could not contain the giant smile on her face. “One thing at a time, Aria. We should get to know each other better first. Say, over dinner?”

That wasn’t meant to end the conversation. Instead, a better change in topic occurred when Elle stabbed her food with her fork. It created a small chain reaction at the table, ensuring Arianna picked up her spoon and tasted the food that had been set before her.

Even that was blissfully graceful.

Chapter 9

Arianna was a certified idiot for entertaining this date, the very thing she fantasized this was but knew could never be. She was an even bigger dumbass for following Elle out of the restaurant at the end of dessert and crossing the large street to the hotel that a company like Royal Asia would never pay for, not even if it was the only one available near LAX.

Just a goodbye in the lobby. Then Arianna would return to her room down the road.

So, how did she end up in the elevator? What compelled her to step out into the quiet hallway devoid of any other souls, let alone any who would tell on them to their companies? And how the hell did she wait for Elle to unlock the door to her king-sized suite and pull her inside?

Just a goodbye drink and use her bathroom before I go back.

Did a drink include being pushed up against the wall before the lights were turned on?

“Shit…” Her squeak narrowly missed Elle’s lips as they swerved in for their first kiss. “We shouldn’t. I mean I… I can’t get involved with you. I’m already going to be so embarrassed the next time I… see…” Her breath was trapped in her throat. Much like her hands were trapped on Elle’s jacket, bringing her closer. Only then did Arianna realize that she had flung herself against the entryway wall and she was why Elle had thought she’d been given the go-ahead for that kiss. “You.”

Her grip on Elle’s jacket weakened as she came in once more for a kiss. This time, she was slower. Hesitant.

“I don’t think you realize the things you make me imagine.” Elle’s face diverted from Arianna’s, her nose gently touching a cheek before her lips delicately brushed against it. “Do you know how many times I’ve wished for you to sit with me in that cabin, telling me all about yourself? How I would stare at your mouth the whole time, wondering what it was like to kiss it?”

Those words were almost too quick for Arianna to understand. Yet as her body acquiesced to a silent request to come closer, to hold herself straight against the wall while trailing her fingertips down Elle’s front, she understood every uttered word.

“Was that you at dinner?”

“Aria…” Elle’s arms raised above her head until both of her palms splayed upon the wall. “I want you to know that I don’t see a flight attendant right now. We’re not on a plane. We’re very much on the ground, and I’d very much like to kiss the sweet woman who was gracious enough to have dinner with me tonight.”

“We were just on a plane today, though.”

“Sure. And now it’s our time off before we continue doing whatever it is we have to do.”

“But…” Arianna tensed when lips lightly touched the side of her neck. My God, she’s kissing me. This woman is kissing me! “How would it even work? What happens when we see each other next?”

Those light, fluttering kisses rounded Arianna’s throat. She grabbed Elle by the waist and pulled her closer, nearly losing the battle of self-restraint. There was a colossal part of her soul that begged her to be the first to initiate a kiss on the lips. Maybe if I take that kind of power into my hands, I won’t be so shy anymore…

“We play it cool, Aria,” Elle whispered in her date’s ear. Does she know what she’s doing to me? Those shudders were liable to make Arianna’s eyes roll back and her clothes come off. Elle had already folded down the collar of the turtleneck. What else might happen under their half-hearted watch? “We don’t acknowledge it having happened. We give each other little smiles and wait until we’re at our destination to explode all over one another. Which is what should be happening right now, may I remind you.”

“Oh, well, that sounds lovely.”

“Does it?”

Arianna lightly touched her lips against Elle’s. Everything unraveled within her.

I’m a mess. Her tongue would not hold back once the gates opened. Nor could she keep her hands to herself, wasting no time to feel Elle up beneath her jacket and wonder how she had become so lucky in so little time. Her legs cocked open, wishing that Elle would step between them and take her against the wall. A crazy fucking mess. Elle passed up that opportunity to instead untuck Arianna’s turtleneck from her skirt and touch her bare stomach. As whimpers passed between each other’s lips, Arianna welcomed her favorite passenger’s tongue into her mouth and a hand directly on her breast. A free, devil-may-care mess.

“Wa…” she sighed in gentle surprise. “I haven’t been touched like this in a long time.”

Elle’s hand fell to the waistline of Arianna’s skirt. “Would it make you feel better if I told you I haven’t done something like this in a while, either? Not since many months ago.”

“It feels like even longer for me. I hope that’s okay.”

Arianna’s sweater lifted over her chest. As Elle pressed up against her, she unsnapped Arianna’s bra and immediately covered a descending breast with her hand. Arianna gasped from the decadence of that touch.

“I think I still remember how to do this, though,” Elle said. “How about you?”
