He puts a finger to my lips. “Don’t you go getting upset for me, gorgeous. I’m not sorry for hitting either of them. Both of them need to be taught some manners. Besides, I’m thinking of getting them tattooed like a badge of honor,” he says, flirting even now.

“Because you’re shameless,” I say, teasing him back. Inside, our bond pulses.

“Facts.” He takes my lips in a kiss of reunion. He holds my face between his hands as though I’m a delicate treasure. “I love you, mate, and I’m so glad you’re ours. No matter how the official paperwork happened.”

He brushes my nose with his in a gnome kiss and my eyelids flutter shut, savoring this stolen moment. It’s too brief, but it’s enough to keep me going. I tug on his hand, following our alpha to the truck.

On the quiet ride home, Ben falls asleep between Finn and me, lulled by our pack purrs. Reid manages to get Ben from the truck without waking him, and Finn and I shuffle into the house behind him. Even Waffles is subdued. He doesn’t bark but eagerly follows Reid up the stairs, nosing Ben’s foot.

In the family room, Payton hands Finn a sleeping Emmaline. “She fell asleep around nine.”

The motherly alpha holds open her arms to me, and I hug her.

“Thank you for being here for us tonight. It means a lot,” I say, so fucking grateful for all the support we’ve had today.

“I'm happy to do it. You’re family now,” she says, pulling from the hug and grabbing her bag. “Your sister stopped by about an hour ago. She left you a little something in the kitchen.”

By the tone of her voice, I can tell whatever that surprise is, it will betotally Jeanieand highly inappropriate.I groan. “Dare I ask?”

Payton laughs. “We talked for an age. I invited her over for a swim day for the kids this summer. I figured we could all coordinate and you wouldn’t mind.”

My throat burns with unshed tears. “I would like that. I bet the kids would too.”

I see her to the door. Her face turns serious, and she takes my hand. “Josh said the boys at school have been taunting Ben for weeks. He felt really bad that he didn’t say something before. I know the one boy got hurt, but Josh said they all ganged up on Ben and that’s when he presented. It’s an unfortunate situation, but it wasn’t his fault. Josh would like to come over tomorrow and visit if that’s okay.”

“Thank you for telling me that. If he’s feeling up for visitors, I’ll let you know,” I promise her.

My heart is heavy as I make my way upstairs. The guys and kids are on the big pallet in the family nest. I toss off my shoes and crawl between them where they’ve left me a spot. With all four of them finally around me, I can breathe. It feels as if the room exhales with us, the world tilting into position again. Finn’s sweet purr starts and Reid matches it, creating a beautiful harmony that fills the room. Their scents create that weighted blanket feel, and my muscles go lax.

“Sleep now, my loves, and everything is going to look better in the morning,” Reid’s deep voice promises.

I believe him. How could I not? On the worst day, when everything went wrong and I almost lost my son, they showed up. It may not have been how we all wanted it, but is there a better testament to the bond than the bite Reid gave me? They chose me and my kids without question and fought in all the ways that mattered.

“I love the two of you. Thank you for protecting our family,” I murmur, my voice slurred by an overwhelming sleepiness.

I don’t fight the pull of sleep or the comfort of the nest. I curl my babies into my arms and let Reid and Finn bookend us in their warm bodies and soothing purrs. Inside my chest, the bond is a living thing between us, adding another layer of safety. Here, like this, anything seems possible, and I let myself dream.

The morning sun beams through the windows, but that isn’t what wakes me. With one hand, Reid scoops me up, and I’m jostled. I fight a startled shriek, trying not to wake the sleeping kids.Finn’s whispered grumble for more finesse makes me laugh as I wrap my hands around Reid’s neck. He carries me from the family nest and down the stairs, Finn darting ahead.

“Good morning to you too,” I say, amused. The feel of my mates' desire racing through my veins is like a drug, making me giddy.

“I’ve got some energy to burn off and a sweet new mate I want in my arms.” His big hands grab my ass cheeks, and he growls. “Every part of you will belong to me, love.”

Those words and the feel of them within the bond makes my body come alive. My pussy aches, desperate to finally feel the connection in our bodies.

Reid kisses me with an urgency matched by his hands. He gets the door to our bedroom closed with his foot, and we break the kiss only to pull off clothes, tossing them as we stumble through the bedroom. Finn’s hands add to the mix, and it’s an explosion of pent-up heat, all the emotions of last night resurfacing and colliding in a desperate need to touch and reaffirm one another.

We don’t make it to the bed.

Reid pushes me against the wall, his mouth all over my skin. “You’re beautiful. And ours. And we’re so lucky.”

He goes to his knees and sucks my clit into his mouth, taking me well past aroused and dropping over the canyon of my first orgasm. It’s a blur of pleasure as he growls into my skin and uses his fingers to open me up.When I’m moaning and he’s satisfied, Reid passes me off to Finn, who turns me around in one quick movement to face the wall. My cheek mashes into the flat surface, my breath panting as he lines himself up and takes the first thrust.

I arch for Finn, loving how he holds my arms behind my back. That steady control forces me to give in or fight; surrender is glorious. I give myself over to my mates, soaking in this raw moment. I want them to claim me in every way. I want to be only theirs.

Finn’s teeth scrape against my neck, his tongue flicking out. “I never want either of their eyes on you again. I fucking hate that either of them got anywhere near you. I want there to never be any doubt that you’re fucking mine.” He punctuates his vow with his hips, taking me hard and fast.

It fills up that tender, needy place inside me to know how much he wants me, how he wants me to only remember what it feels like to be in their arms. His bonds swell with the claim, the feel of it racing through me like a brush fire, lighting up everything in its path.
