Lykos glared at her, "Now is not the time for jokes, Remy."

"At this point, if I can't joke about this shit, I'm going to be curled into a ball in the opposite corner of that cell! Do you understand everything we just went through while on that trip? We shouldn't even be alive! We somehow survived multiple ambushes, and we brought Kodi back so that we don't lose him again after finding out he was even alive in the first place. Do you understand what is happening right now? We are so fucked!" Remy threw her hands in the air for added measure before stalking over to the wall and pushing her back against it.

Was that mature? Probably not. But after everything they experienced in the last two weeks, her nerves were shot, and she was damn near done with wanting to step out of her room for anything other than to eat and to see Chase.

Maybe I should just go to Chase's territory, finish the bond, and build a damn wall around our territory so no one can get in or out unless we allow them.

Not a bad plan, but the rest of the kingdom would suffer.

"It is still not the time for these antics, Remy. Your brother is fighting off a dark entity inside of him. We brought him back here to help, not make jokes," Lykos roared.

Remy rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry, but I'm not processing the information as you want me to."

He glared at her again but looked at his mate instead of pressing further. With resignation, he said, "We have much to catch up on."

Tala glanced at Remy, "I got some of the basics, but I need more detail. Our son was mated to a Witch?"

Remy saw Kodi lift his head. His glowing green eyes signaled to everyone that the Lycan was in charge, not the man.

"Stop calling her a Witch. She had a name!" Kodi growled.

He wasn't making a move to attack them through the bars, so Remy took that as a good sign. She watched his eyes to see the black swimming in them but didn't notice anything other than the same green eyes that their mother had.

Kodi sighed, relaxing slightly with his head bowed but his hands on the bars. "I wish I could say that it was only the love potion. It wasn't the love potion alone that caused me to fall in love with Morgana."

They stayed silent for him to speak. Kodi kept his head bowed as if he was ashamed to fall for a Witch. Remy didn't see any reason to be embarrassed for loving someone not of the same species if that was what it was. He wouldn't have been the first for that pairing and wouldn't be the last, either.

"The potion was for me to fall in love with her at first, and then she had to ease me off it, or I'd go crazy with needing her by my side. We spent much time together as she weaned me off, and I fell for her anyway. She was smart, funny, and, from what I saw, selfless. As we built the pack, I started noticing things seemed off. You were right about her having an altar. I followed her out there once and saw her chanting for a spell. It scared the shit out of me when I heard her talking, and something else talked back to her."

Remy's ears perked up at that line. Morgana was talking to someone? To whom was she talking? She wasn't a dark witch, so it couldn't have been too bad.

"That's when I started to have an issue with her. After that night, she started to lose control of herself. Morgana wasn't clingy and annoying, but after that, when I tended to the pack, she would accuse me of cheating on her. She once tried to bewitch one of the unmated females for talking to me. I had never seen her act like that before. Morgana was convinced I would leave her for someone else because I wasn't her True Mate. If I had met my Fated Mate, it would have been a discussion about what to do next. But that's when she started trying to force the potion on me again, not just weaning me off anymore, and threw her magic at me when I wouldn’t take it. I had to kill her. I had to kill the mate I chose because of whatever the fuck is happening in our kingdom." Kodi's voice cracked, and Remy heard a few sniffles. "I saw that black shit swimming in her eyes, and I knew something was up. I don't know what kind of shit she was in, but I did what I had to for this pack. Did she curse me with the same thing that was in her?"

Remy stepped closer to the cell, reaching to put her hand around her brothers. The others protested a bit, but Remy ignored them.

"I went to the altar, Kodi. If she was into dark magic, I didn't smell it. I only smelled things that the white witches use."

Kodi looked up at her, his eyes red and puffy, his cheeks stained with tears. "What do you mean?"

"I made a friend on the island. She is a Witch, and she practices the lighter side of things. She makes potions for a living, and I swear that girl could whip up a potion for any ailment, but she always smelled of things like sage and lavender. That's what I smelled at that altar. Morgana didn't practice anything dark."

"Then what happened?"

Remy sighed. "The Dark Dimension happened."

Chapter twenty-five

Remy

Remy took a deep breath and then sat on the floor with her legs crossed. This was going to be a long story, and at this point, she felt it necessary to tell everyone in the room.

"The Dark Dimension is definitely in our kingdom. Having seen the black streaks of the dimension swimming in my brother's eyes, and the fact that he even caught it inside of his chosen mate’s eyes, makes it clear that it has taken hold of some people in the kingdom. I don't know how it picks who to take over; I just know that, once it does, it will make you lose control of yourself. In all my life, I know Kodi would never try to harm us. We are his family, and he always puts us above everyone else, but he tried to attack us multiple times now with the black that’s inside of his eyes, which is how the effect of the dark dimension starts before it completely takes over. My friend Kaida had multiple mates, but at first, she was only connected to one of them. Like Kodi, one of her mates had the dark dimension inside them. I can send her a letter asking how they overcame the dark dimensions. Until then, we will have to keep Kodi from getting angry. That seems to be the trigger."

Tala stepped over to Remy and put a hand on her shoulder. "Do you mean that we can lose Kodi to this dimension?"

"I'm not quite sure. No one on the island died while dealing with the Dark Dimension. I just know that it made people lose control of themselves when they were angry. There were many fights on the island, and several things, buildings included, were destroyed. I don't know what would have happened if it wasn't for Kaida and her magic. From what I could see, there most likely would have been a lot of blood and death."

"You mentioned that Morgana was a White witch. Does that have anything to do with why the dark dimension was able to take hold of her?" Kodi asked in a soft voice.
