"I can send shipments of resources to your pack from ours. If you are willing to give me a list when I return to my territory, I can put together that shipment and send it to you as soon as possible."

Myles nodded and then stood from the table, signaling that the discussion was over. Remy sighed in relief before standing up. Myles' eyes were fixated on her, and the heat from his gaze made her stomach turn into knots.

"I can extend my hospitality to give you some rest from your travels if you wish."

Lykos bowed. "Thank you, but I believe we need to move on. However, I would like to use your facilities before leaving. It is a long drive to the next destination."

Bryan agreed, and they walked off to use the bathrooms. Asher disappeared as well but didn't announce where he planned to go.

Myles stared at her. "I think we need to have our own discussion. Don't you think?"

Shit. Is it too late to run?

Chapter fifteen

Remy

Myles led her to an office and sat down behind a desk. Remy assumed she wouldn't have to sit in the chair before him. The only good thing was that he did not lock the door. She could leave the room and alert her father if things went sideways. Considering they had encountered some berserk Lycans already, she liked knowing she had that option.

As much as she hoped that Miles would allow her to leave without having this conversation, she knew that they would need to have it. If this man was meant to be a mate of hers, they had a lot to discuss. She didn't know how long she had before her father would be looking for her, so Remy hoped Myles would keep this short.

The room was blander than the rest of the home. The wall was white, but the desk was the same shade of orange as the table in the dining area. There were no decorations on the wall, but everything was immaculately organized. Remy could see that his hands were on his lap as he leaned back in his chair. She didn't know if this was an intimidation tactic or if he was trying to figure out what he wanted to say. Either way, she wasn't happy that he pulled her away from her father and Bryan. No matter how powerful she was, she didn't like being in these situations, especially when people are falling back into the Old Ways and going berserk.

"What do you want?" She said the words without thinking.

His eyes flashed to his Lycan's. That could either mean he liked hearing her take control, or he wasn't happy about having a dominant woman in the room.

Some Lycans can't stand that.

"I believe you understand that there is a bond between us."

Remy rolled her eyes. "I noticed that right after it was created. I guess it took you a little longer to figure it out. Good on you. I'm glad to see the Goddess gave me such a smart mate."

Muscles flexed in his neck and shoulders. He didn't like the insult. Remy didn't care.

"I assume we must have touched each other somehow the last time I was on your territory."

Remy fought the urge to clap and told him he was a good boy for figuring that out, too.

"Do you understand the entirety of what a mate bond consists of?" he asked her.

It was easy to see he was being condescending because she was, but that didn't stop her from getting mad about it. She already didn't like how he was trying to handle their prior meeting, and this was not much better. She didn't know what was shoved up his ass, but it really needed to be dislodged before he hurt himself.

"I do. It means I am tethered to someone who has a stick lodged up his ass, and I have to help him dislodge it before other pack members notice and revolt against the Alpha."

Myles growled. "Do you think this is a game?"

"No. I think you need to approach me with respect, or you are going to continue to get shit thrown back at you."

He was fighting a smile. She could see it, but instead of letting it shine through, the man narrowed his eyes at her more.

"A mate bond is a sacred thing, especially when it is a Fated Mate bond. That is a gift from the Goddess, and it needs to be cherished."

Remy nodded. "Yes, I was given this spiel as a teenager. I'm not exactly sure why you are trying to give me the same one my mother gave me."

Myles cracked his neck. "Maybe because I am trying to understand why the Goddess has given me a pup with no life experience as a mate. I need a Luna to help me wrangle these damn Lycans before they get themselves killed, and you are so young you probably barely have control over your beast."

Remy snarled and slammed her hand down onto the desk. "You know nothing about me or my life. I have more control over my Lycan than most of the beasts I've encountered. You just have that stick shoved so far up your ass that you can't see straight. I am the future leader of my fucking territory, and you think I am too naive to understand what that entails. I have been groomed for my position since birth. When did you even gain control of this territory? Within the last eighteen months, I assume, since before I lived on an island full of outcasts, you were not the Alpha."
