Mark: Yeah, but you like me.

Millie: Do I?

Mark: Yeah. You do.

I’m grinning like a fool. Ear to ear.

Millie: Yeah. I do.

I stretch and look at the clock. I really need to get some sleep. I close my laptop. I climb into bed and try to get comfortable. That’s when my brain decides it’s time to start racing. Everything is swirling together, but one thing is clear. I need to talk to Jonathan. I send a message before I can chicken out.

Millie: Are you free for lunch tomorrow? I know you’re busy.

Jonathan: I always have time for you. Do you mind coming to the high school?

Millie: Not at all! What time is rehearsal? I can come around then.

Jonathan: That would be amazing! I need to pick your brain about one of the numbers, it’s just not working right and I can’t figure it out.

Jonathan: 2:30 in the auditorium.

Millie: It’s a date

I arrived at the office early this morning, because as much as I want to spend all my time with Mark, I also know that if I see him at all it would distract me. I needed to get in, get stuff done, and then leave by 2:00 in order to make it to Jonathan by 2:30.

I have so much I need to catch up on since I missed work Monday. There is a pile a mile high sitting on my desk taunting me. I slam my head on my desk with a groan.

Trina plops down next to me. “What’s up with you?”

I sit up. “What do you mean?”

“You just seem distracted. Even more than before.”

I quirk my face.

“You’re dating someone!” Trina screams.

“Shh!” I hiss. “Not so loud. And how did you figure that out?”

“Distracted. Smiling all the time. All the signs were there. Don’t know why I didn’t make the connection earlier.”

“I mean, it’s not official or anything. It’s only been three days. We’ve only technically been on one date.”

“But you like him.”

I nod and I can’t help but smile. “Yeah. I really like him.”

“Uh, you’re so… ” she motions all around me, “twitterpated. I’ve never seen you like this.”

“I’ve never felt like this before.”

“So, tell me all about him. Name? Job? What kind of car does he drive?”

I raise my eyebrow.

“I’m not going to stalk him!”

“I know.” I think. I honestly don’t know if Trina would stalk someone or not. She might.
