“Left or right?” I ask.
“Right.”
“How many men?”
“Six in this section. But the second you start shooting, six more will come running from the west.”
“I like those odds.”
I’m so close to Rozalia I can almost smell her. Nothing will stand in my way.
“Good luck,” Tytus says.
With that, I click open the door and jump into the chaos.
Sure, enough, six snipers are set up along a stretch of open windows. I pick the first two off before any of them even realize I’m here. The third falls shortly after that. But I have to duck back behind the doorway when the last man in line manages to pull out a pistol.
“Fuck,” I curse.
A hail of bullets rip into the wall where I just stood. When the barrage pauses, I hear shouts and footsteps coming from the other direction.
Shit. That means I’m up against nine soldiers now.
“Need a smoke bomb?” Tytus offers.
Before I can answer, a gun-wielding arm foolishly reaches around the corner. I immediately grab onto the wrist and plow a fist into the back of his elbow. A howl cuts through the gunfire as his bones snap in half.
Before he can finish crying out, I pull the fucker into the darkness and put a bullet in his head.
“Yeah, now would be a good time for a fucking smoke bomb,” I grunt, stepping back a few more steps.
“Way ahead of you.”
In the blink of an eye, a flashbang erupts on the other side of the wall. Shouts fill the air as the first bits of smoke seep through the doorway.
“Nice shot,” I admit.
“I’ve only got three more,” Tytus reminds me.
“Hopefully, that’s all we need.”
After a quick reload, I jump back out into the room. The smoke is thick, but I can still make out the confused silhouettes stumbling around. I sneak up behind the first fucker and snap his neck.
He falls, and I move on to the next.
It’s not until I get to my fourth victim that the rest of them catch on. A new flurry of gunshots rip through the smoky air. I don’t snap the fourth fucker’s neck. Instead, I fling him around, using his body as a human shield.
It works, but the force of the barrage is still enough to send me flying back against the wall.
“Five more,” Tytus tells.
“I know,” I spit, wiping blood from my lips. “Left or right?” I ask. Lifting my gun into the air, I wave it.
“Left,” Tytus quickly reacts.
In response, I lower my gun and fire an entire round ahead. In response, I hear a chorus of grunts, and at least one thump as a body hits the ground.
I drop to the floor right alongside it. A second later, a stream of bullets rip over my head.
