“Turn it off,” she tells me. “Turn it off and we can all walk out of here alive.”

Her voice rattles ever so subtly. But not even that clues Tytus in on what’s really happening. How could he know?

He looks just as pissed off and confused as ever.

“I’m not leaving without my bride,” I reply, not budging.

“I’m not yours,” Rozalia sneers.

“Is that because you already belong to someone else?” I accuse.

“No one owns me.”

“What about your new friend Leander Onasis?”

I try my best to keep the envy out of my question. But I worry it’s all too clear.

“No. One.”

“I’m not buying it. Why else would you be at his house?”

“You don’t know anything,” Rozalia spits.

“That’s not true,” I say, shaking my head. “I know how to free you from those cramps of yours…”

Rozalia must truly be desperate, because she easily takes the bait.

“Tell me,” she demands, stumbling forward some more.

Tytus twitches behind her. “Roz. Stop. I don’t know what’s going on. But he’s goading you. Don’t get too close.”

“I know what he’s doing,” Rozalia says, her sharp green eyes zeroing in on me. “But I need what he has.”

“It’s right here, baby,” I smile.

With my left hand, I pat down onto my pocket, implying that I have the antidote stuffed down there, right beside my cock.

“I’m going to butcher you,” Tytus growls. Still, he doesn’t dare move an inch as Rozalia strays further away from him.

He doesn’t know I won’t shoot her. And that might just save my life.

“Watch your mouth,” I snap back at him. “You’re speaking to your future brother-in-law.”

“You’re going to regret those words,” Drago says, speaking up again. “I’ll make sure of it.”

“You aren’t doing shit,” I lash out. “Why don’t you run and hide again. Coward. Just like you did the last time one of your disciples was in trouble.”

To my surprise, Drago’s gun dips slightly at the dig. The fire in his dead gaze wavers.

“You’ve seen Gabriel…” he mutters. A heavy sadness takes over his bony shoulders. “Is he well?”

If I was smart, I’d take advantage of Drago’s lapse. Hell, I should massacre both him and Tytus right here and now.

But I don’t do that. Instead, I feel the need to defend my brother-in-law.

“Gabriel is thriving,” I tell him. “No thanks to you. Or either of you.” My eyes dart between Rozalia and Tytus. “You two had your chance to join our empire. But you spat in our faces. You threatened my family. Now, you’re going to pay for it.”

Trying to hold onto that rage, I take a subtle step backward, hoping Rozalia will follow me.
