Like an oversized rat, he rushes by me and opens the door.

“Don’t go far, Domenico,” I tease, before turning to follow Silvio back out into the hallway. “I’ll have some questions for you when I return.”

Domenico doesn’t get time to respond before the big wooden doors to his office are slammed shut. This time, no muffled shouts come from inside, but I can feel the rage seeping out through the cracks.

“Where to first?” Silvio asks, nervously rubbing his hands together.

“Let me see her room.”

He must have known that was coming, but Silvio still hesitates for a moment before he allows himself to give in.

“Very well,” he sighs. “Right this way.”

Despite the size of this place, it doesn’t take us very long before we find our way to Francesca’s room.

Immediately, I’m transported back to our rendezvous in the shower. The recent memory become even sharper as I step inside her sanctuary and sniff in her intoxicating scent.

It’s everywhere. A mixture of vanilla and eucalyptus, and it’s so strong that it nearly bowls me over.

It definitely makes my cock hard.

Turning from Silvio, so that he can’t see my arousal, I begin to search the room.

“Do you think she was taken?” Silvio asks. He stands in the doorway, keeping a watchful eye over me as I wade through the messy room.

It’s clearly already been ransacked, and I know enough about the situation to understand that it wasn’t some kidnappers that made a mess of this place, it was Domenico turning everything upside down in search of a clue.

Hopefully, he didn’t find any.

“It looks like she was,” I note, playing dumb. “Or was it you who made this mess?”

“Us,” Silvio sighs. “Domenico wanted to rip this place apart when he found out that she wasn’t on the property.”

It looks like he got his wish.

Up ahead, I spot Francesca’s closet. The sliding doors have been ripped off their hinges, and piles of clothes lie on the ground, completely turned inside out.

She’ll want some of those.

“And how do you think she got out?” I ask, pretending to take an interest in the bolted window on the other side of the room.

But I still make my way over to the closet. That’s what I’m here for, after all.

“My worry is more about how someone might have gotten in,” Silvio mumbles.

“And how’s that?”

The older Italian hesitates before revealing what I already suspected. It’s what Francesca told me earlier. Domenico is having trouble paying his men.

“Disgruntled guards,” Silvio practically whispers.

“You think it may have been an inside job?” I ask. Bending down, I run a hand through a discarded tank top. It’s still warm.

“I haven’t brought up the possibility to Mr. Galli yet,” Silvia says. “He’s too angry for that right now. But there have been some complaints.”

“Like what?” I ask, already knowing the answer.

“Money has been tight lately,” Silvio confirms.
