“Right here!”

That voice is impossible to miss, even if the tiny woman it belongs to is easily lost behind the massive Russian men who walked inside before her.

Mary steps between her husband and his brother, and my heart stops.

In her arms is little Evander. Roman and Mary’s baby boy.

This is the first time I’ve had the chance to meet him.

“Oh my lord,” I hear myself exhale. “He’s adorable!”

“I thought it was about time he meet his final aunt,” Mary jokes, shuffling forward so that I can get a look at my youngest unofficial nephew.

“He’s got his father’s eyes,” I immediately point out. It’s impossible to miss. They’re that same forest green as Roman’s.

Absolutely captivating.

“Let’s hope he gets his mother’s good looks,” Roman jokes. Brushing by us, he gives Mary a playful slap on the ass, then leans down and gives his baby boy a soft kiss on the forehead. “He’s going to be a killer someday.”

“A lady killer or a real one?” I ask, knowing that in this family, that distinction matters.

“Hopefully both,” Uncle Leo smiles. “How are you feeling?”

“So much better,” I smile back.

“That’s good,” he nods, wrapping his arms around Sophia from behind.

The sight makes me want to run to Ray and get some loving of my own. These two couples are so in love and so happy, and it fills my heart to know that I have the same thing with Ray, even if we’re not quite at their level yet.

There’s still a marriage and an heir to take care of.

I’m on board for both…. Finally.

Because having a baby with Ray doesn’t feel like a trap anymore. It just feels like the next step in our relationship. A symbol of our ever-growing love.

It’s not about creating an heir, or tightening our stranglehold on the last two remaining Italian families.

It’s about us, and us only.

And when it comes to us, I’m down for everything and anything.

“Everyone is in the kitchen,” I say, turning around. “Let’s go say hi.”

I hardly wait for my new family to follow me. Suddenly, my only concern is seeing my man again. I just want to feel his hands wrap around my waist and his lips brush against mine.

It doesn’t take long before I get my wish.

“You’re looking better,” Aiden points out, as I rush by him with a little wave. He’s holding Melina, but she’s clearly asleep, so I don’t stop to say hello.

Nothing is as dangerous as a sleeping baby.

“Thank you,” I say to Aiden, before biting my lip and jumping straight into Ray’s waiting arms.

“Woah, easy there, kitten,” Ray laughs as I wrap my legs around his waist and give him a thousand soft kisses.

“What? Can’t handle a little lovin’, old man?”

“Hey, it’s not because I’m old,” Ray laughs. “… It’s because I’m broken.”
