They recoded more than I could have ever hoped for. Hell, I lost count of how many times Sonia screeched exactly what I needed to hear. The weight that her confession lifted off my mind was so great that I feel like I could float to the fucking ceiling.
Instead, I’ll send Domenico and Sonia plunging down to hell.
Francesca’s father didn’t even bother to question his wife’s motives. He just went along with everything she had to say.
The cuckold wasn’t even mad that she had slept her way into this mess. In fact, I think he might have been a little turned on.
I’m not one to judge anyone’s kinks, but I’m also not one to share what’s mine. Someone touches my girl and it will be the last time they ever touch anyone.
If Domenico had reacted to Sonia’s revelation like I would have, then he might not be on his way to a shallow grave, but he was all too eager to praise her for undermining me. He was all too ready to join her in finishing what she had started.
Fools.
I’ll kill them both, and before the other Italian families can question my motives, I’ll make sure they hear the tapes.
The consequence for betrayal is death.
I’ll gladly carry out the punishment myself.
“They’ve got to be in the back,” I grumble, impatiently pushing past Leonid. “The blueprints said there were a bunch of offices at the end of the building.”
“There’s also a huge open floor that leads up to those offices,” Leonid says, making sure to keep his voice low. “We’ll be sitting ducks.”
“We can always set off a flare,” I remind him. “That will draw their attention while we flank them.”
I’m done with excuses. I’ll do whatever it takes to finish this.
Sonia and Domenico both deserve to die.
The short-tempered Italian was always more trouble than he was worth. But even if he somehow still held some value, even if he was still unaware of what Sonia had done, there’s no way I can let him live after how he treated Francesca last night.
His fate was sealed the second he made her cry. Sonia’s fate was determined the moment she told Domenico the truth.
I heard it all.
She had hired Artuzov to leak harmful information to the feds. She wanted the Irish gone. She wanted the Russians dead. She wanted to obliterate the Greeks.
And she wanted Domenico and her to rise above the ashes to take control of what we left behind.
But they underestimated me.
Now, all they’ll be getting is a shallow grave. Maybe, if I’m feeling merciful, I’ll let the share the same hole in the ground.
“Any sign of movement?” I hear Leo mumble into his radio.
We have this place surrounded. Outside of this godforsaken plant, three dozen Irish and Russian soldiers wait for their orders. Among them is a drone operator. He’s trying to use a thermal camera to locate our targets. But this place is one giant refrigerator, and he hasn’t been able to see shit yet.
“What did he say?” I ask.
“It’s still not working. We’re blind.”
“So be it.”
The place is closed for the weekend, the lights are off and there are no innocent workers to worry about. That means I don’t have to hold back.
Domenico and Sonia die tonight.
Really, they should have skipped town the second they left that meeting last night. Hell, Domenico even suggested it. But Sonia has never been one to abandon a plan before it could bear fruit.
