Fairy tales don’t end like this.

They don’t end with the villain ripping off his clothes to ravage the willing heroine. They don’t end with a bigger army and a whole slew of sinister allies cheering outside.

They don’t end with a brutal reign.

They end with a whimper and a gentle kiss.

But that’s not how this is going to end. That’s not our style.

I’m going to make my king roar.

And I know he’ll fill the night with my cries.

Because this isn’t just about claiming each other anymore. It’s about claiming the darkness.

We will rule it together, no matter how many sinful nights it takes to conquer.

That’s how it was always meant to be.

Screw a prince charming. My wicked heart was never going to be satisfied with some boring pretty boy.

Even if it took me this long to figure it out, I’ve always needed the bad boy; the alphahole. The man willing to pull me into hell; the king willing to show me how to rule it.

No. I would have never lasted in some sterile little fairy tale.

But this?

Fuck.

This dirty dream can last forever. It will last forever. I know it.

… And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

1 month later…

“This is getting ridiculous,” Roman grumbles.

“Agreed,” Nolan says, his glare cutting over to Ray.

Hell, everyone’s eyes are fixed on Ray.

If shit weren’t so serious, I might step in front of my friend and shield him from the judgemental looks, but I know better. Roman is right. This is getting ridiculous.

This shouldn’t be happening. None of us want to be here. The women we love are waking up alone right now because of this one nagging issue, and it’s pissing us all off. There isn’t a man in this room who wouldn’t rather be at home with his wife, doing what men like us do first thing in the morning.

But, fuck, I can’t even think about that right now—no matter how badly I want to get lost in day dreams of how Sophia handles my morning wood. This shit needs my full attention. Otherwise, it could balloon into something that destroys us all.

We need answers, and we need them fast.

“Look, I can explain…” Ray starts, before Aiden Kilpatrick raises his hand.

No one speaks after that, and no one will—not until the king of all kings has said his part.

“There’s no need to explain,” Aiden says. “We all know what’s going on.”
