“I have contacts,” Castor assures me. “We’ll be able to find were Retsos is keeping Sophia. He wouldn’t dare kill her so quickly, not without trying to get something out of us first. We can come out of this on top, in one piece… but only if we work together.”

The flames lash at my back as I turn back around to stare down the man I stole for Sophia’s sake.

I risked my life to make her happy, and she just risked her life to keep me safe.

I won’t let any of that go in vain.

… If that means working with the Greeks, then so be it.

Whatever it takes to get her back; to be able to tell her that I love her to her face.

“Fine,” I say, pulling out of Castor’s grip. “Rally your men. I’ll rally mine. This ends tonight.”

Sophia

“Let go of me!”

Even with the hood planted over my face, I know who’s pushing me forward.

It’s one of Retsos’ goons. I can feel the other one flanking us as I’m blindly led down some kind of hallway.

These are the same two fuckers who were with us at the meeting in New Orleans.

Back then, they were the only two loyal men Retsos could find in a sea of soldiers. Probably because they were the only idiots dumb enough to think he could be anything more than a failure.

Well, maybe I was the dumb one. Because, now, it seems like Retsos has found a whole army.

… Or he’s bought one.

Fuck.

We charged into a warzone back there.

It seems as though Retsos has only grown in power since Leo took me.

How is that possible?

The size of his little ambush party caught us off guard, and it almost cost us everything. Luckily, Leo’s men showed up at the last second to give us some extra support—but only after we showed up at the last second to save their leader.

Leo…

My heart aches as I remember the sight of him taking cover beneath that corpse. He was completely surrounded. I was sure he was already dead.

Really, I just ordered the troops to charge because I wanted to join him in whatever afterlife he was heading too. Maybe, if I killed enough men before one of them got me, I’d be able to join my demon in hell.

Thankfully, he survived… at least, he did for a little while.

The last time I saw Leo, Castor was trying to tackle him out of the way of a falling shipping container. I’m not so sure if they survived… but I swear I heard Leo calling for me through the flames as I was dragged away into the darkness.

They took me from him.

The bastards. They need to pay.

“Throw her in here,” one of Retsos’ goons says.

Ahead, I hear a door creak open, then I’m pushed forward. My arms are already tied behind my back, and when my knees hits the edge of something hard, there’s nothing I can do to catch my fall.
